The highest-rated breast cancer org in the U.S. We fund research to find a cure in our lifetime.
About us
BCRF is the highest-rated breast cancer organization in the U.S. We provide critical funding for cancer research worldwide to fuel advances in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, metastasis and survivorship. Since our founding in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, BCRF has raised more than half a billion dollars for lifesaving research. Through a unique and streamlined grants program, we seek out the brightest minds in science and medicine and give them the necessary resources to pursue their best ideas. As a result, researchers are able to make discoveries and design new approaches to address all aspects of breast cancer—and do so in record time. Learn more and join us at www.bcrf.org.

SOME REFLECTIONS ON RESILIENCE: In September I tackled an epic cycling challenge: the 1,000-mile, nine-day Ride Across Britain. It was really hard. Nine days of 100+ miles, a lot of climbing and some terrible British weather. I trained for eight months. Even so, there were more than a few moments when I thought I wouldn't finish. But I did it. It took a combination of strengths: physical and mental. A window on resilience. Finishing the ride was one of the most thrilling accomplishments of my life. I did the ride to raise money for breast cancer research in honor of my sister. So far I've raised: - CAD$30,530 for the The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in Canada - £5,139 for Breast Cancer Now in the U.K. - USD$5,150 for The Breast Cancer Research Foundationin the U.S. It's not too late to give:https://lnkd.in/gvzKezXt #resilience #rideacrossbritain #cycling #endurance #breastcancer - Last week, BCRF held its 14th annual Boston Hot Pink Luncheon & Symposium, raising more than 430,000forlifesavingresearch.TheeventfeaturedamovingconversationwithMBCthriverAmandaHellerandherhusbandBen,whoraisedmorethan430,000 for lifesaving research. CVI Director Dr. Mary (Nora) Disis received new funding from The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to continue her work on designing a vaccine that prevents breast cancer by targeting obesity. Obesity is an important risk factor for many cancers, especially breast cancer as it can increase a woman’s risk of developing the disease by 20-40%. The fat tissue can trigger an immune response that causes sustained inflammation, which promotes malignant cell transformation that can’t be eliminated simply by losing weight. Using a similar technology to the CVI’s other cancer vaccines, Dr. Disis is developing an anti-inflammatory vaccine called ADVac that is designed to reverse diabetes, prevent breast cancer, and be affordable. This incredible progress is thanks to the tireless efforts of researchers and the generosity of supporters like you. Even though Breast Cancer Awareness Month is over, our work to fund lifesaving research continues year-round. Together, we’re moving closer to a world without breast cancer.
- As a two-time breast cancer survivor and president of The Pink Agenda, Nicole Seagriff has seen the power of research firsthand. #ResearchIsTheReason she had options to treat her breast cancer and can now raise awareness and funds for research to investigate the disease in younger women. - For more than three decades, BCRF investigator Dr. Olivera Finn has pursued what some might call the holy grail of cancer research: a prevention vaccine. And now, thanks to pivotal BCRF funding, she’s testing one in a breast cancer clinical trial. The promising MUC1 vaccine is currently in trial and could one day prevent breast cancer. Her groundbreaking work brings us closer to a future where breast cancer may be a preventable disease. - "Research is what made my treatment possible and saved my life. By supporting research, I hope to give back to the cause that helped me and to create a world where no one has to fear or suffer from this terrible disease."—Yen Lam Yen is running the 2024 New York City Marathon with #TeamBCRF to give back to the community that supported her as she was going through her own breast cancer journey. "Running with Team BCRF is a way for me to express my gratitude, resilience, and solidarity with the breast cancer community as I celebrate my 5 year anniversary of survivorship. It is also a way for me to help others who are going through their own journey with breast cancer," she said. "I know how much it means to have someone who understands, supports, and inspires you during a difficult time. So by sharing my story, I hope to encourage and empower other patients and survivors to keep fighting and never give up." Help us thank Yen in the comments. - "Running with Team BCRF was a no brainer—I have so many ties to this organization, I couldn’t think of a more motivating and powerful reason to carry me through running 26.2 miles."—Shannon Pop Shannon is running the 2024 New York City Marathon with #TeamBCRF in honor of her mother, a two time breast cancer survivor. "Research is the cornerstone of overcoming the fight against Breast Cancer. It is the reason why my mom is a 2 time survivor when the odds were against her," she said "It is the reason why I was able to take preventative action against my odds as well. To me there is no better cause than raising money so other moms and daughters can have the same success stories." Help us thank Shannon in the comments.
