About us
The Chris Long Foundation is a nonprofit, founded by two-time Super Bowl Champion and 2018 NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Chris Long. We are dedicated to serving those most at risk, at home and abroad. Started in 2015, The Chris Long Foundation has engaged in both international and domestic programs focused around clean water, educational equity, and military support. Our programs strive to generate impactful results by creating opportunities and providing resources, financial support, and meaningful experiences to those we serve. Waterboys is our cornerstone initiative that unites professional athletes from across the NBA and NFL with fans to bring clean water to East African communities in need. To date, we have provided water to over 235,000 and are well on our way to reaching our goal of providing clean water to 1 million people. Since 2017, our educational initiatives First Quarter for Literacy and Pledge 10 for Tomorrow have infused over $2.25 million into educational equity programming and early childhood literacy. We are a team of professional athletes and passionate fans, ready to make a difference. Join us.

- Happy Veteran’s Day! Today, we’re celebrating the 42 U.S. military veterans who have participated in our Conquering Kili program, uniting with pro athletes and advocates to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and support the fight for clean water. Together, they’ve funded 11 deep-borehole wells in Tanzania, changing lives for tens of thousands. A special shout-out to our 2025 climbers—including 6 veterans and our first female Team Captain, Erin Baskin—who will carry this legacy of service and impact to new heights!

- 🚰💧 Clean water is a right, not a privilege. We’re excited to spotlight a recent HometownH2O project in South Carolina: we have completed installation of new water bottle-filling stations at Allendale-Fairfax Elementary, ensuring students have safe, contaminant-free drinking water throughout the school day! 🏫 Thanks to our amazing partners: Rural Community Assistance Partnership Incorporated (RCAP), Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project, Inc. (SERCAP), and Xylem, who made this project a reality. Each student received a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated while learning about the importance of clean water and making healthy choices. Check out the highlight reel for this project! 🎥⬇️
- 💧 #WorldWaterWeek #StoryOfSingidaElizabeth Hamisi Muna, a resident of Ndughwira village — the site of the very first well we ever drilled — talks about how their Waterboys well has impacted health outcomes in her village. Elizabeth is a mother, grandmother, and an active member of her community.
- Happy World Water Week! This February, we traveled to Singida, Tanzania, where we visited completed Waterboys wells to see how they have impacted the communities they serve. We quickly noticed a theme. In addition to access to safe, sustainable drinking water, community members utilizing 8 wells across 8 different villages detailed improvements in: 🏥 Health outcomes ♀️ Safety for women and girls 🌾 Agriculture and economic opportunities 📖 Access to education This is the ripple effect of clean water access. It frees up time and promotes self-sustainability. Mariam Idd is a seventh-grader from Mvaye village in the Singida region of Tanzania. Here, she tells us how her village's Waterboys well has improved her own safety. Follow along this week as we highlight other community members and their journeys to clean water.

- 🌊 A Fresh Start in Caret, Virginia: The Taylor Family's Water Triumph! Life in rural Caret, Virginia, presented the Taylor family with immense challenges due to a lack of safe drinking water. Through the Waterboys initiative, our HometownH2O program partnered with Water Well Trust, Xylem, Goulds Water Technology, the Vinyl Institute, local partners, and sponsor Love, Tito's, to bring safe water to the Taylor family! 👣 Before: Daily struggles without water forced the Taylors to make long trips just for basic needs. "You don’t realize how important [water] is until you don’t have it," Tiffany Taylor shared amid their struggle. 🎉 Now: With a new well installed, they celebrate easy access to clean water! The joy of simple tasks like taking a shower or cooking pasta without worries marks a new chapter of comfort and health. 📷 NFL player Joe Reed attended to see Waterboys' HometownH2O program in action and meet the Taylor family. 🔗 Dive deeper into their story and see how you can support our efforts. - At the Chris Long Foundation, we have a deep appreciation for our teachers. We know that being a teacher is not just a job — it's a calling. Thank you to all teachers who put so much time and energy into educating our youth. We aim to support teachers by increasing access to educational opportunities for students through our #EdZone initiative, which focuses on three areas: increasing literacy through targeted book distributions, educating and engaging our audience on the importance of educational equity, and providing basic necessities to students so they feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn in the classroom. In Charlottesville City Schools, we have "EdZone closets" in all six Charlottesville elementary schools. Basic necessities like soap, shampoo, toilet paper, socks, winter clothing, and more are available to students through this program — and we are expanding into some Philadelphia elementary schools. We hope that EdZone programs support both our students and our teachers, who already have so many responsibilities beyond educating the next generation. Learn more about EdZone through the link in our bio — and we wish all the best to our invaluable teachers this Teacher Appreciation Week!
