- What is a good ROAS and is it the only thing you should be looking at? 1. What is ROAS? ROAS stands for Return On Advertising Spending, and is calculated by dividing the revenue generated from the campaign by the cost of the campaign. 2. A good ROAS completely depends on the industry and your business goals, but generally a good ROAS for Facebook Ads is a 3:1 ratio. This means that for every 1spentonadvertisements,yourbusinessgetsareturnof1 spent on advertisements, your business gets a return of 1spentonadvertisements,yourbusinessgetsareturnof3. For Google Ads, an ROAS between a 3:1 and 5:1 ratio is considered effective. 3. ROAS isn’t the only metric of success in advertising. Even with a lower ratio (high advertising spend and moderate sales), a campaign can still be successful depending on your goals. Engagement, traffic, and building brand awareness can all be achieved without being clearly reflected in the ROAS. Other metrics to consider are CPC (Cost Per Click) and CTR (Click Through Rate). - Today we’re here to answer one of our clients’ most frequently asked questions: When should I use Google v. Meta ads? There are two kinds of marketing strategies: push and pull. Push tactics (like Meta) are ads that you can push towards your target audience, ads that they might not see naturally. For example, if you are promoting an event, they might not be on the lookout for said event, so you can set up a Meta ad that will alert them of something they might be interested in. Pull ads are those that appear according to people’s search intent. This is what happens when Google uses pull ads to promote a jewelry business in your county if you are looking for necklaces. Push tactics are great to use for short term ad sets like events and promotions, and pull tactics are great to use for general brand advertising. That means that (in general) Meta is most helpful for pushing a brand or an event toward your target audience, and Google can pull the already-interested audience toward your business.
