We believe that all people have a right to quality health care, regardless of their ability to pay. Every day, we provide free and low-cost care with dignity and respect to hundreds of uninsured Alameda County residents. Our wellness services benefit the individual, the family, and the community by integrating primary care, dental care, WIC support, mental health counseling, community health education and more under one roof. At TVHC, we know that maintaining good health is about much more than writing a prescription. We have primary care facilities in Union City, Hayward and San Leandro and multiple program sites throughout Alameda County, California. TVHC’s Cultura y Bienestar (CyB) team recently represented us at the 14th International Congress of the Atenea Network on Migration and Mental Health in Mexico City, hosted by UNAM! Led by Monica Zuniga Fajuri, CyB Supervisor and Mental Health Specialist, the team presented on Immigration, Mental Health, and the Next Generation, focusing on immigration grief and acculturation stress in immigrant families. Their insights highlighted unique mental health needs in Latine communities and offered strategies for fostering empathy and inclusion. Thank you, Monica and the CyB team, for your impactful contributions to this important discussion and for representing TVHC’s commitment to mental health!
As part of our commitment to fostering health equity and creating robust care teams, TVHC’s New Graduate Program is welcoming a talented group of newly graduated Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who are just beginning their careers. Earlier this month, our new APP graduates joined for a full-day retreat designed to equip them with professional insights and practical strategies. “Through this program, we can support our care teams in the delivery of evidence-based, best practices and expand access to care for our patients,” said Dr. LouAnne Giangreco, MD FACEP , TVHC’s Chief Medical Officer, as a reflection on the program. “The retreat was a great opportunity to build relationships, learn about our patients, and learn about all the TVHC has to offer.” With guidance from TVHC's Patient Care Coordination (PCC), Family Support Services (FSS), and Community Outreach and Advocacy (COA) teams, our new grads participated in an immersive challenge. Together, they cooked and shared a healthy meal on a limited budget, deepening their understanding of the challenges and resources that affect our patients' lives. This retreat is the first step for these APP graduates to build relationships within TVHC, support one another, and enrich our team-based approach to meeting our patients’ needs. We’re thrilled to see how these emerging leaders will strengthen our mission and contribute to a healthier future #HealthCare #TVHCorg
