This gives our customers confidence in both a sustainable supply chain and a path to net-zero emissions by 2050 (Scopes 1 & 2). Today, the Board of Arbitration ruled that U. S. Steel has satisfied the successorship clause of its Basic Labor Agreement (BLA) with the United Steelworkers (USW) and that no further action is necessary under the BLA for Nippon Steel to acquire U. S. Steel and assume all USW agreements. As a result, under the BLA, U. S. Steel is allowed to proceed with closing the transaction. This is an important decision for the future of U. S. Steel, and we are eager to engage in collaborative discussions with the USW and all our stakeholders as we work to complete our transaction. Read more. https://lnkd.in/eTJveRjh

The wide-ranging discussion also focused on an important milestone announced prior to the event: U. S. Steel became the first steel company in the world to earn ResponsibleSteel’s Certified Steel designation for products made at our Big River Steel facility in Arkansas.
