- Dr. Peder Larson's Principles of MRI course in the MSBI program now features a tabletop MRI scanner that empowers students to engage with the physics of MRI in an interactive, accessible way. Students can test imaging parameters, create artifacts, and scan everyday objects—all in real-time. This resource offers a valuable opportunity for the next generation of imaging specialists to deepen their understanding and build practical expertise. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eKwAhXne
- Dr. Bonnie Joe highlights how strong mentorship builds not only careers but also community bonds. Join us this National Mentoring Month and express gratitude for those who have guided you along the way! https://lnkd.in/gENVEFWG #NationalMentoringMonth
- Drs. Duygu Tosun & Pratik Mukherjee researchers have developed an innovative machine-learning model to enhance MRI quality. This breakthrough allows 3T MRI scans to mimic the clarity of ultra-high-field 7T imaging, significantly improving the visualization of brain abnormalities like white matter lesions and microbleeds. This advancement holds potential to transform diagnostics for conditions such as traumatic brain injury (TBI) and multiple sclerosis, bringing sharper focus to areas critical for effective care. https://lnkd.in/dBfAS4fF
Enhancing MRI with AI to Improve Diagnosis of Brain Disorders ucsf.edu - Join us on March 26th for the 9th Annual Precision Imaging of Cancer and Therapy (PICT) Symposium at UCSF's Mission Bay Campus! This half-day event will bring together exciting advancements in #Immunotherapy, #Theranostics, and #AI in Cancer Imaging. Featuring engaging talks and posters from students, postdocs, and leading researchers, the symposium offers a space to exchange ideas and spark new collaborations. This year's distinguished speakers: - Freddy E. Escorcia, MD, PhD, National Cancer Institute (NCI)- Mekhail Anwar, MD, PhD, University of California, San Francisco📌 Abstract Deadline: February 21, 2025 ➡️ https://lnkd.in/enHZE3Rt
- Radiation therapy is a key weapon against lung cancer, but its side effects can sometimes lead to confusion and stress. UCSF Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging's Dr. Kimberly Kallianos presented her findings at #RSNA2024, showing how radiation pneumonitis and chronic fibrosis may appear on CT scans as masses that mimic tumor recurrence—sometimes months after treatment. These conditions, while concerning, can often be managed with steroid therapy, helping patients avoid unnecessary anxiety and overtreatment. Recognizing these patterns in lung imaging, especially in immune-suppressed patients or those with prior interstitial lung disease, is critical for better care. Understanding the effects of both radiation therapy and immunotherapy is key to providing clarity for patients and improving outcomes in cancer care. https://lnkd.in/gt5qvcTb
