UNDP Accelerator Lab and UniCV Launch 'Kafuka' to Illuminate Low-Income Communities 💡 On UN Day, we proudly presented the "Kafuka Renewable Energy" project at the SDG Fair, unveiling the zero version of a handmade solar-powered lamp, produced using 3D technology. This innovative solution is designed to provide sustainable lighting to low-income families and communities in Cabo Verde, promoting both economic development and a healthy environment. Kafuka offers a range of benefits to communities, including: 1- Reduced energy costs for families, enabling savings for other essential need 2- Improved health and safety, with solar lighting reducing reliance on harmful, traditional energy sources 3- Enhanced educational opportunities by providing light for study after dark 4- Environmental protection, contributing to greener, more sustainable communities Conceived by the UNDP Cape Verde Accelerator Lab and developed in partnership with the Faculty of Science and Technology at UniCV, this project marks a significant step towards providing sustainable, affordable energy to communities in need. We are proud to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
