Via Christi is proud to celebrate Scott S. Johnson MD DABA CWSP, our Medical Director of Ascension Via Christi Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, for earning two prestigious recognitions for his exceptional leadership and expertise. Dr. Johnson has been inducted into the Continental Who's Who Registry as a Pinnacle Professional Member, honoring his impact as a leader in healthcare. Additionally, Find a Top Doc awarded him the Top Doctor distinction, highlighting his innovative work in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. “Receiving awards and honors is truly humbling, but what matters most is the opportunity to enhance patient care and satisfaction," said Dr. Johnson. "These achievements are only possible thanks to the incredible teachers, mentors, peers, colleagues, and the exceptional staff and nurses here. Together, we make a meaningful difference every day.” Dr. Johnson’s dedication embodies our mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care. Please join us in congratulating him on these well-deserved honors! Recently, we had the privilege of recognizing Sedgwick County EMS professionals—Major Tracy Swihart, Paramedic Travis Ware (retiring soon after 25 years of dedicated service), and Paramedic Victoria Steele (not pictured)—for their extraordinary efforts in saving a life during a cardiac emergency. Their swift response, combined with the heroic actions of a neighbor who initiated CPR, exemplifies what’s possible when individuals and organizations come together to make a difference. This remarkable outcome is a testament to the importance of teamwork, preparation, and shared commitment to the well-being of our community. Moments like these remind us that whether you're a healthcare provider, a first responder, or a community member willing to step in, we all have a role to play in saving lives. Let’s continue working together, fostering partnerships, and building a stronger, healthier Kansas—one life at a time.
- Congratulations to Kevin Strecker on making the Wichita Business Journal's "Power 50"! According to the WBJ, the Power 50 is made up of 50 influential leaders who had the greatest impact on business Wichita over the past year. Since becoming Ministry Market CEO in 2022, Kevin has helped guide Via Christi through post-COVID staffing challenges and an ever-evolving healthcare landscape. Under Kevin's leadership, Via Christi continues to grow and thrive. We are expanding two of our emergency departments, establishing new partnerships to strengthen the healthcare workforce, and making significant medical advances – all while working to fulfill our mission of providing safe and quality healthcare to all, especially the poor and underserved. Congratulations, Kevin #ViaChristi #WichitaBusinessJournal
- Celebrating a major milestone at Via Christi! Our Lung Nodule Clinic team recently completed its 500th robotic-assisted procedure using the Ion system—an incredible achievement in advancing the early diagnosis of lung cancer. The Ion robotic-assisted platform allows us to safely and accurately biopsy even the smallest lung nodules, helping us diagnose cancer earlier and get patients started on treatment sooner. Since opening in 2022, our multidisciplinary Lung Nodule Clinic has been dedicated to providing faster diagnoses, fewer procedures, and better outcomes for our patients. Thank you to our skilled clinicians, dedicated care teams, and innovative leaders who made this milestone possible. And most importantly, thank you to our patients for trusting us with their care. Here’s to continued progress in the fight against lung cancer #EarlyDiagnosis #LungCancerAwareness #RoboticAssistedSurgery #ViaChristi #BetterOutcomes

At Via Christi, we’re dedicated to addressing the evolving healthcare needs of Kansans. Our CEO, Kevin Strecker, had the privilege of joining leaders from three other hospitals for a panel discussion on "Transforming Healthcare for Kansans". This engaging conversation, moderated by McCownGordon Construction, brought together an audience of business leaders and stakeholders to explore the challenges and opportunities facing healthcare as we move into 2025 and beyond. Key topics included: - Addressing workforce challenges, including the recruitment and retention of healthcare talent - Navigating the complexities of an aging workforce - Responding to the growing behavioral health needs of our communities - Embracing innovative solutions to enhance care delivery We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Kansas Leadership Center and Wichita Business Journal for hosting this impactful event and to everyone who participated in fostering collaboration and dialogue. Together, we can create innovative strategies to improve healthcare for all Kansans.#HealthcareInnovation #KansasHealthcare #Leadership #WorkforceSolutions #BehavioralHealth #Collaboration
