“Us being here together is an act of defiance. We will not be silenced” said Seema Ghani, a former minister under the government of Hamid Karzai and now a women’s rights activist who has remained in Afghanistan to carry out humanitarian work. “Women and girls inside Afghanistan are living lives that are dominated by fear, every day. Just leaving the house is an ordeal.” “The world is moving on but we are here, all of us together, to try to make sure that we are not forgotten. We are not all here to agree with each other, but we are here to talk, debate and hopefully end with a united voice,” said Ghani. Full article: https://lnkd.in/eQckfMt5 -

On the morning of September 6, 2009, Kevin, a Dutch sniper, found himself with a small patrol deep in Taliban-controlled territory in the Helmand Valley, Afghanistan, on a secret mission. Near Deh Rawod, Uruzgan, the patrol was unexpectedly ambushed. Kevin, positioned at the front line, was mortally wounded in the attack. Despite the heavy danger, his comrades bravely managed to retrieve his body and bring it safely back to Camp Holland. Kevin was later flown home and cremated. In accordance with his last wish, his ashes were scattered in the North Sea near the beach of Domburg. At just 26 years old, Kevin became the first Dutch commando to be killed in action since the Indonesian struggle for independence. #HonorTheFallen #JusticeForTheFallen #StopSupportingTaliban #SacrificeForFreedom #VeteransCopied-Roy Grinwis - VOICE360 reposted this
With tears in her eyes, Munizha Talash spoke with a heavy heart: "I gave up my goals and dreams, but I wanted to create wings from the Burqa (Chadari) for the girls of Afghanistan. I wanted to show the world that Afghan girls can achieve great things, even with the few resources they have." She expressed her deep desire to one day return to Afghanistan and live a life of freedom. "I know today we are all sad, and our hearts are breaking. But I want to tell the girls of Afghanistan that if I am still standing today, it is because of you. You give me strength. I urge you not to lose hope. Together, we will live in peace, with freedom of expression, in our homeland, on our soil." Please stand with Afghan women. Afghan women need your support now more than ever. Thank you, and I hope that one day, we will all return home." This call for solidarity is a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of Afghan women, and it is an urgent appeal for the world to not look away.#Afghanistan #afghanWomen
