Big news from the Community Care Campus! This afternoon, we joined Mayor Craig Greenberg and our friends at the PNC Foundation to announce a huge step forward in serving Louisville families in need: the opening of our temporary shelter! For 40 years, VOA’s Unity House has supported families experiencing homelessness. As we continue development of C3, the Louisville Metro and VOA teams have prioritized expanding this vital service to the campus, but we know it will take some time before the permanent shelter is available to the community. With the winter months quickly approaching, it’s critical that we provide urgent shelter to families in need. Thanks to a $106,000 grant from our friends at the PNC Foundation, we’re able to open a temporary shelter! Thank you, PNC Foundation, for stepping up to ensure families in crisis receive warmth and stability while we continue development on our permanent shelter.#CommunityCareCampus #endhomelessness #VOAHome #housingsupport #Louisville #Kentucky

We were honored to have Representative Susan Tyler Witten join us yesterday for our first VOA Journey at the future home of the Community Care Campus (C3). This innovative campus will provide critical housing resources for unhoused families and individuals in our city. Harold served 22 years in the Army, including in Operation Desert Storm. After retiring, he faced challenges with combat PTSD, declining health, and eventually a housing crisis. VOA Honor stepped in, helping Harold find a home, assisting with rent and utilities, and providing furnishings and essentials. Today, Harold is back at work, and we remain in touch to support him as he builds a stable future. We’re proud to serve veterans like Harold every day. Positive Parenting in Action! Last week, our Clay County Family Recovery Court (FRC) team hosted a Positive Parenting group, sponsored by Kosair for Kids Face It Movement. The families we serve learned about spotting signs of abuse, medication safety, and bonding techniques for children of all ages. Plus, they enjoyed a delicious catered lunch!
