Today, I had the privilege of attending the second installment of the 2024 Building Transformation Forum Series alongside Commercial Property Management Intern, Spencer Strye, and Development Executive Assistant, Anne White, LEED AP O+M. The event, Building Transformation Forum: Ecological Conservation & Restoration, was held at the Class A, LEED-Silver Certified, sustainably developed Innovation Campus Phase 1 Innovation One building—the first project in Wisconsin to receive SITES certification. Thank you to the USGBC - LEED Green Associate (GA) and LEED AP, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, Irgens, Kahler Slater, and New Eden Landscape Architecture, LLC for their comprehensive presentations on connecting ecological strategies, climate change resilience, storm water delineation, decarbonization, and site-specific landscape design, all while maintaining an aesthetically cohesive and on budget project that achieved SITES certification. A special thank you to Wangard Partners and Anne White for the opportunity to delve deeper into habitat-conscious landscape architecture and land planning practices. I am looking forward to implementing LEED v5 and SITES-certified landscape design and planning practices, such as permeable parking lots and sustainably maintained prairies in my professional and educational future.

Recently, I had the opportunity to shadow, engage, and learn about construction management and processes with Wangard Partners in collaboration with Greenfire Management Services, LLC at The Locklyn at Olympia Fields in Oconomowoc, WI. Being able to apply the the knowledge I have garnered from my internship at Wangard Partners and from my education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture is an incredible experience, and I am excited to see the completion of the site. A big thank you to the project Superintendent, Connor Wierschem, and the Assistant Project Manager, Ryan Simpson, at Greenfire Management Services for their comprehensive explanations of the engineering and construction processes and to Senior Project Manager, Gary Wendt, for this opportunity!
