With the holiday season upon us, WeightWatchers’ Chief Nutrition Officer, Dr. Michelle Cardel, PhD, MS, RD, FTOS, shares her observations with TIME (https://lnkd.in/eFgkz7Te) on how people using weight-loss medications like Ozempic and Wegovy are navigating the festive season—some by adjusting their injection schedules to enjoy meals without unwanted side effects. The piece also discusses how individuals are not only navigating food, but also alcohol, which has been a unique challenge for those taking medications. Earlier this week, our NYC and San Francisco teams celebrated 🪔 Diwali, the Festival of Lights–one of the most cherished Hindu festivals worldwide. Together, we created vibrant mandalas, decorated our very own diyas, and savored delicious traditional foods like samosas, papdi chaat, pani puri and gajar halwa. A heartfelt thanks to WW’s Director of Total Rewards, Neha Yadav for sharing her culture with us. Neha beautifully captures the spirit of Diwali: “Celebrating Diwali holds a special place in my heart and in Indian history. This is the one time in the year when we go all out–cleaning and decorating our homes with flowers and rangoli, making everyone's favorite sweets, dressing up, performing traditions and bringing together the entire neighborhood to enjoy fireworks. A special memory I have about celebrating Diwali is not the day itself but the weeks leading up to it, when enthusiasm is at its peak, with every family member smiling, planning, shopping and preparing. Diwali is not just about burning lamps, eating desserts and firecrackers. Celebrating Diwali is all about sharing the light, love and joy within you and with everyone around you.
