Meet Brian Sanchez, LA Y Team Member for over 20 years. He started his career as a lifeguard then moved up to a lead swim instructor. He continued to grow over the years, leading him to his current role as Risk Management Associate. Brian's story is a testament to the incredible people across our centers, who are committed to supporting our children, youth, and communities. It's also a testament to the impact the Y has is more ways than a pool or gym - Brian came as a youth to learn to swim and today he's leading the teams who support thousands each year to do the same. Yesterday, our teen leaders from the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles convened teens from all over the LA region to canvass in the community in an effort to rally the community to get out to vote in the upcoming school board and presidential elections. Three cohorts of teens at our Ann & Steve Hinchlife San Pedro & Peninsula YMCA, Southeast Rio Vista YMCA at Maywood and our Crenshaw Family YMCA convened for a morning of training and an afternoon of canvassing in the community. Thank you to Ana Ponce and GPSN for supporting and making this experience possible for our youth advocates; we are so grateful for the support of GPSN. And, thank you to the teen directors and teen coordinators of the LA Y and our Advocacy Day planning committee members and champions (Jason Servellon, Anna Enger, Pamela Mercado, Carina Aceves, Andrea Huerta, Omar Torres, Nick Vairo, Deshaunte Lewis, Mark Linscomb, Nathan Godinez, Kayla Cabrera) for making this experience possible for our youth.
