Served as a support system, or "first friend", for recently arrived refugee families in Phoenix, Arizona. Was paired with families within one week of arrival, and assisted families in learning about local culture, customs, navigating public transit, grocery shopping, currency, etc. Also provided emotional support and encouragement to families as they adjusted to their new home and community.
