Jim Cavanagh “On February 19th, 2013 at the Technology Association of Georgia InfoSec Society’s 2013 Cyber Attack & Business Continuity Simulation Omar played the role of Director, Public Relations for the fictional Global News Network. In a realistic twist of fate Omar was not present on the stage for the Simulation role play however Omar was among the first to see the value of such an event and was instrumental in the success of the Simulation. As an unofficial ambassador of the program Omar, who joined the Simulation in Summer 2012, worked to build relationships, awareness and support for the event among the security community. Without Omar’s assistance the world’s first open table top simulation would not have been the success that it was. --- The second annual Technology Association of Georgia open Cybersecurity Simulation took place on February 25, 2014 at the Clay National Guard Center. Over forty participants from the FBI, GBI, Cobb County PD, Cobb County 911 and C-level executives, senior managers and cybersecurity practitioners role played seven attacks – five cyber, one physical and one social engineering – against the fictional The Logistics Company for over 200 local and remote observers around the globe. The Simulation was hosted by General James Butterworth, Adjutant General of the National Guard of Georgia, on the day proclaimed by Governor Nathan Deal as Business Cybersecurity Day in Georgia. Omar was :out of town" when the cyberattacks of February 25th were actually unleased but he played an instrumental role in preparing TLC for the attacks and also crafted the inital Morning Briefing presentation. I thank Omar for doing his duty to share his substantial skills in cybersecurity for the benefit of Georgia’s business community.”
