Duggan Brothers (Contractors) Limited on LinkedIn: #templemore #history | 16 comments (original) (raw)
On top of the Devil’s bit summit outside Templemore. The 50-foot cross was built by Duggan Brothers in 1954, with Stephen Grey as the project manager. Every tool and material was carried up by hand to create this masterpiece – at a cost of £2,000 Irish punts. A real piece of history and an incredible testament to human effort and craftsmanship in a beautiful spot.#Templemore #History
Amazing piece of history and fair play Duggan Brothers (Contractors) Limited . Yet another example of the diverse range of projects that a career in construction brings. It has always been like that and will long continue into the future, so thanks for sharing this piece of your history and the contribution to Building Ireland's past as well as Building Ireland's future.
Climbed it with the kids on New Year's Day and didn't know that👌
My family are from Templemore and I have great childhood memories of hiking up the mountain to this. Never knew Duggan Brothers constructed the cross.
One of my fave places in tipp 🔵🟡✝️

Here's a clue: This character, dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, is famous for his exceptional archery skills. Known to don a green tunic and hat, he also became a symbol of resistance against tyranny. Let me know in the comments below! ⬇️#Viewbear #UKProperty #PropertyManagement

Classic mansion grounds" or "Classic estate grounds." This refers to the surrounding area or estate of a classical-style mansion
To view or add a comment, sign in - Recently, we had a family trip to visit the Ellora Caves. What we saw there had a profound impact on what I believe is the general belief about ancient people. The Kailasa temple, as they say, was carved out of a single colossal rock by removing (not adding) 200,000 tons of rock material. This temple would have been quite an ambitious project, even if it would have been imagined to be constructed using modern day tools, machinery and bricks. But what really would make such an imagination even more completely out of this world is that the fact that not one stone was brought in build the temple. In fact it is the exact opposite. The temple has been carved out of a single colossal stone. If you think that, the thought of single stone itself was mind boggling, just give this thought a try. Just look at the intricate details, the proportions, the perfectness, the magical touch and utter liveliness of these sculptures. How was this even possible? Who imagined all of it, forget the imagination part, how did they manage to communicate this to everyone who was involved and how is it even possible that everyone was so well skilled that they could pay so much attention to detail and make sure that every single sculpture is the best it could possibly be. Today we talk about team communication, skills, training and what not. We make thousands of mistakes, miss timelines and crib about work-life balance. Were such issues and challenges applicable to those people who built these caves? Anyways, I have captured some of the visit in the form of a curated short vlog here. Do check it out.https://lnkd.in/dHzCrJpk

- In Freemasonry, the rough ashlar represents more than just a stone—it symbolizes the journey of refining oneself to become a better man. Just as a craftsman smooths and shapes a stone, we as Masons work to improve our character and embrace the values of relief, truth, and Brotherly love. Our latest blog delves into the meaning behind this symbol and its role in Masonic ritual: https://lnkd.in/eeZCgNpt
