We had a candid and productive meeting last Friday with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mayor Ms. Low Yen Ling, and Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ms. Jessica Tan, along with senior officers from the Singapore Food Agency and Enterprise Singapore. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Trade and Industry office and was accompanied by a hosted lunch. During the open and cordial discussions, we highlighted some of the concerns currently facing the Singapore food industry, particularly amidst the challenging business climate and global political uncertainties. DPM Gan, SMOS Low, and Deputy Speaker Tan listened attentively to our feedback and expressed their commitment to working closely with government agencies to address these challenges. The Singapore food manufacturing industry continues to be a significant contributor to the national economy, generating close to SGD 6 billion in GDP and employing more than 48,000 people. Over the years, the government has supported our companies through various assistance schemes to build capabilities and internationalize, recognizing the critical role a resilient food industry plays in ensuring food security, especially for a nation that imports more than 90% of its food. We appreciate the continued support and guidance from the government, and we look forward to collaborating further to strengthen this vital sector.#SFMA #SFA #ESG
