- Have you ever struggled to accept or change your present situation because of past experiences? On April 12th 2024, I delivered a TEDx presentation recounting the silent battles and struggles I've encountered over the years. By sharing my story, I aimed to convey the empowering realization I gained: your past isn't a life sentence. A month later, TEDx has officially posted my @tedxuky talk on their YouTube channel! Given their channel's massive following of over 40 million subscribers, the possibilities are endless!!! It's truly a remarkable opportunity, and I'm filled with gratitude! Now, those who couldn't make it to the event and even those who streamed it online can relive the experience. Although my story is now accessible to the world, I refrain from labeling this as just the beginning. I've been focusing on embracing both past and present achievements and internalizing them. It's essential to emphasize that I've been doing the work for years now, and this marks another important milestone towards fulfilling my dreams.https://lnkd.in/ehDrWU38

It was great time! ๐ Summarizing the presentations I attended: We need to focus on the need that should be met. Not just writing code for the sake of writing code or closing a task in Jira. "(...) You wrote very good, useless code." And to recognize this need, we should emphasize communication and the way we communicate. "What's in blue, we should say in purple". Pragmatism and simplicity => simple code => less headache, lower entry barrier for new developers, simpler and more enjoyable life. The code won't call you at 3 AM, but a colleague who doesn't understand it (in a crisis situation) might. Finally, I'll quote something that appeared at the end of Mariusz Gil's presentation, which I think sums it up nicely: "In pure architecture the smallest detail should have a meaning or serve a purpose" ~ A. W. N. Pugin (1812-1852) From my self I could add to this quote " And yes, Iโm talking about you, fourth abstraction layer, that is 'necessary' for making a database query."#CraftIT Michaล Bartyzel Dawid Pereira

Iโm not exaggerating if I say that this was one of the most valuable workshops I ever participated in. Thank you, Jurko Van Veenendaal, for sharing all your experiences and tips and for actually letting us take the stage at Orbisk | Zero Food Waste! My main takeaways for really making a difference with your communication: ๐ฌ know your audience, donโt just dump content for the sake of giving an โupdateโ ๐ญ remind yourself of your qualities and be confident (remind those around you as well, letโs compliment each other more for our successes and when someone aced that presentation) ๐ฏ๏ธ make a connection with your opposite, let your information sink in and make sure what youโre communicating really lands with your audience There were countless more lessons learned during this afternoon that Jurko worked with us but Iโll start with the 3 above for my personal pursuit of: Creating DIRECTION from a place of CONNECTION and ATHENTICITY#publicspeaking #takingthestage #direction #connection #authenticity #zerofoodwaste #personaldevelopment

โจ Applause: Itโs Not Just NoiseโItโs Fuel โจ For over twelve years as a speech coach, one thing I always emphasize in my keynotes and workshops is the power of applause. Itโs not about feeding egosโitโs about recognizing effort, courage, growth, and what I call acknowledging essential qualities. Being willing to see and share the essential qualities you see in someone who is brave enough to take the stage is creating a fundament in which the speaker is encouraged to flourish. And MY GODโฆ were the people at Orbisk | Zero Food Waste able to support each other to the max! Itโs not everyday that I get to speak for and work with such an boundlessly enthusiastic group of people that was willing to lift each other up! Thanks for inviting me Richard Beks and thanks for being brave enough to take the stage Lola Slager Willem Tijmensen Lena Burgdorf Sanne Hordijk Sharon Reijmers Lisan ten Arve Nikolay Nikolov and Andres Riestra Perna and everyone for their generosity in support!

I shared this TED Talk with my Entrepreneurial Leadership class today because it ties into what weโve been studyingโhow leadership is rooted in relationships. Itโs so important to take the time to connect, contribute to each otherโs stories, and be part of something greater than ourselves. Weโve been exploring what true leadership looks like, and itโs clear that leadership isnโt about authority or a specific title. Itโs a practice that anyone can engage in, and it requires genuine interaction and connection with others. To overcome our biggest challenges, we must empower those around us. By speaking to their values and fears, we gain a deeper understanding of their perspectives, which is part of what allows us to inspire a shared purpose and mobilize them as advocates for change.

I am excited about the release of my TED Conferences talk about creating meaning in life. In it I reflect on the difference between the desire for achievement and the need for meaning. What you know and what you can do, times your attitude = that is your value. Value = (Knowledge + Skills) * Attitude This TED talk by Victor Kรผppers is a joy, and I return to it time to time to recharge on his positive energy and his timeless wisdom. And also time to time I like to put practice on his first advice: be grateful. Just pause a little and write down twenty great things in your life today. It is a boost.

The Comic Coach. Creating Comedy. Helping awesome humans. Two times Tedx Speaker - one as a Banana. Author and speaker and all round passionate soul for laughing, being kind, creating Impact and Play!

Want to do a TEDx that lands? I did my first Tedx in 2017 (dressed as a banana - no you dont all have to be a fruit to do get a Tedx promise!!) - this and my second one that I did in 2022 have helped me in so many ways. This is how I got to do them. HAVE A GOOD IDEA - I know seems very obvious as Ted is all about ideas worth spreading, however for a few years it struck me that Tedx talks were an excuse for business people to do a TEDx - it started to become a tick box exercise as opposed to the true heart of TED. That has changed now I think which is brilliant (they are now seeking far more local speakers to events and are far more aware of business folk using it as PR) Both of mine #Be More Banana and Laugh Think and Play have been true ideas of how I want to change the world... As you have a really good idea do not over think your application form. If you are in the UK go on the TEDx website and you will find the events that are looking for speakers - apply and dont over think - your idea is what matters not a perfect PR form. When applying make sure your idea fits into the theme of that TEDx event - the people that run TEDx events work super hard and when they create a theme they are thought through and ensure your one does fit - when I did my second one I only applied to Woking as their theme worked so well with my idea. When you get the TEDx rehearse it and then enjoy it... They are brilliant to do and the people you meet are fab! Here is my first one in case you have not seen it! https://lnkd.in/gczVCMU
