I have maintained that we need to ensure we focus on the "handprint" of digital technologies, not just the footprint. For example, consider the benefits of AI applications in the water sector. AI water technology companies such as Transcend, Kilimo, and FIDO Tech are delivering quantifiable solutions to addressing water problems. Let's think more broadly about the role of digital water tech, not just its water and carbon footprints. The Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) is a good way to consider the value of the ICT sector in solving energy, carbon, and water issues.
