Well, today was off to a sarcastically fantastic start.

Woke up pretty well and started to take a shower. Halfway through the shower, after I got myself lathered up, the hot water decided to just shut itself off. The rest of the shower time was spent turning the water off and on again in the hopes of jumpstarting the hot water (I know that would do nothing, but I couldn't think of anything else to do) and then finally just biting the bullet and rinsing myself off with the cold water. Need I remind you that today in Chicago, it was 12 degrees. Fahrenheit. It was like being drunk by a refreshing glass of cold water. It was taking the ice bucket challenge for no reason.

Checked Twitter while getting dressed. It said that my beloved Purple Line express was shut down because of a fire by Fullerton. Since I was planning to drive after work anyway, I went on to take the LSD to downtown. What I didn't see, though, and one of my coworkers warned me of this as I was getting on to the Drive, is that the LSD was up until recently closed entirely because of a bus fire. The expressway was a parking lot. I took an

U-turn back to the Northbound drive, and exited at Bryn Mawr in order to take side streets to work.

In the end, though, it probably would have been best to stay on the drive. Getting to work would take an hour from 8:45 AM. I ended up arriving at 10:30AM.

My usual parking garage was full by the time I arrived, of course, so I went to one of the more expensive lots. I went to an ATM that charged $4 for withdrawls (MOTHERFFFFFFFFF)... to pay for the parking (since the lot was cash only because they live in 1974). As I was about to walk to work, I couldn't find my phone in my pocket. I went back to the lot to look for it. Turns out it was sitting in the passenger seat. Walked back toward work when I realized I didn't have my keys (left it with my car keys), so I walked back to the lot to get the keys. Did I mention it was 20 degrees outside?!

Arrived at work at almost 11AM. I was (an still am, a bit) very angry.

I hope this is all the Murphy Slaw I'm going to experience for today.
