I had a pleasant start to the day today. I got the following email with regard to this ring.
Hi Bryan:
I just checked out the archive and saw the photos and write up.
I have to tell you I love the ring and have been wearing constantly since
you brought it by the other day. I have had people comment on it - both the
stone and the lovely setting and everyone has noticed the lovely details of
the scales, scalloping and setting.
Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful job with it. It is more
eye-catching than I thought it could be and I am glad that it was a project
that interested you!

How good is your dog? Well, lemme tell ya. My dog is so good that...
We went for our usual late night walk and when it was time to go back inside I picked up a backpack that needed to come into the house. So the house entering routine was broken a bit. The dogs are supposed to wait for permission before comming into the house. What with the disruption of routine Tessa just barged on in as soon as I opened the door. I just assumed that Thor came in too.
I puttered about for another hour or so and then went to put the dogs to bed. Only problem was Thor was missing. I looked all over the house and there was no Thor to be seen. I began to realize that he had probably not come in after our walk. My chances of finding a white dog in the snow at night with an hour's head start on me were not good. But there was nothing for it so I suited up, headed out and started the car. No sooner did I start the car then there was Thor in the headlights. Despite being left outside for an hour he was still in his own yard. When I stepped out to see if he was OK he just hopped into the car and climbed to the back seat ready to go for a ride. I had started the car to go hunt for Thor but he was so good had not entered the house because he didn't have permission, but he hadn't left the yard either. So we went for a drive around the neighbourhood anyway. Thor definitely earned his car ride tonight. That's how good my dog is.

Agusto Pinochet died today. My only regret about his passing is that he died in a hospital surrounded by a loving family instead of pushed out of a helicopter into the ocean like the thousands of people he ordered tortured and murdered while he was dictator of Chile.
