20 questions Following beckyc and bugshaw, I'm thinking of a film. Ask questions with a Yes/No answer until you can correctly guess it. Note that I may be a bit slow in answering!

Race for Life I'll be pushing Edward around the Race for Life in Cambridge again in July - both in memory of my mum and as motivation to do some exercise (it's only 5K but every little helps!). If you'd like to sponsor me, you can do so at http://www.justgiving.com/LEJSheppard/.

Baby We've only just escaped the hospital, so if you haven't already heard Edward Paul Sheppard was born eleven days late at around 11am on Thursday 7th February by emergency caesarean and weighing 5 lb 11 oz. I won't be online much, so if you have anything urgent/important to say than email/text me.

Any tips on coping with sleep deprivation would be much appreciated. Baby falls asleep on the breast and wakes up in the cot.

Hobbitses A bit flabby, but I liked it a lot - Bilbo, Gandalf, Gollum and Thorin are particularly fine. My We Three Kings earworm has morphed into We Thirteen Dwarves...

Gift ideas? At work, we've had Spanish student interning with us over the summer, and I'm suck what to buy her as a leaving gift. She's hoping to stay in Cambridge (currently job hunting, if anyone has any biology-ish vacancies) and we've collected about 50 UKP.

Cambridge Film Festival The paper prorgamme's not back from the printers yet (tomorrow, apparently), but here's what I think looks interesting at this year's film festival - lots of documentaries, for some reason. There's an extensive Hitchcock strand, but I have the 14 disc boxset if anyone wants to borrow. I have the week off work (as usual), if anyone wants to meet up for lunch or something.

( Here be filmsCollapse )

Looper Both Empire and Total Flim have given 5 star reviews to the upcoming film Looper, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) and Bruce Willis and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick). I am stupidly looking forward to it now.

MilkAndMore.co.uk The MilkAndMore website is really useful (order/cancel online, etc) except for anything else you can only contact them by phone or letter. Our milkman usually comes around 6am (I know this from insomnia), but our (admittedly recently edited) order hadn't arrived by the time I left the house at 8.30. I rang them up and apparently it's still on it's way (I assume our regular milkman is on holiday) so I guess I'll have some rancid milk waiting when I get home.

BBC filming Ah, I saw fluorescent pink location signs dotted around yesterday and wondered what they were doing. Spy drama being shot in Cambridge. Good source of income for Cambridge City football club ;)

Expensive pillow seems worth it. I shall probably celebrate by going to the pub.

Another question Where's the best place to buy decent pillows in Cambridge (and has parking)? Possibly even an old lady orthopaedic pillow...

Groovy and the beast Just listening to the podcast of the excellent "Classic FM at the Movies" radio show and thinking that the "Beauty and the Beast" theme reminds me of "A Groovy Kind Of Love".
