Dear Deb I am glad that you have children. That is wonderful. But I am not your child. I am an adult. You may not boss me around, speak patronizingly to me or treat me as a child. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that I have over 10 years of experience in the area of education/ child care. I am in fact currently an intern at McNeil High School and very close to finishing my degree with teaching certification. Assuming that your status as a mother makes you more qualified to comment on education than me is like me assuming that I know more about computers than Ross does because I own a laptop. My opinions are valuable and should be treated with respect.

Announcing Jen's Giant Birthday Camp Out Hey Everybody! I'm turning 30!
I figured the best way to celebrate would be to have a camp out on the property behind our house. We'll be paryting from Mayy 22nd-25th. Bring your tents and your mead and bring everyone you know- the more the merrier. Even if you can't come for the whole time, you can make it out here at some point during the weekend. We don't live that far out of Austin.

Most Awesome Mother-in-law Ever!! Ross- Jen and I have been watching Castle on t.v.
Nancy- Yeah I like Castle too
Jen- The guy that plays Castle was on Desperate Housewives
Nancy- Yeah, I know, but I have seen him somewhere else too
Jen- He was on a Soap Opera, Day of Our Lives or All My Children or something like that
Nancy- I don't watch that stuff
Jen- Well, he was on Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Nancy- I didn't know he was on Buffy!
Jen- yeah, then he was on a tv show by the same writer called Firefly
Nancy- Yes! That's it! I watched Firefly!
Yes that's right my mom in law is a Firefly fan. How awesome is that?

Help Needed The TUMC Easter Egg Hunt is this Saturday. I'm looking at the 1/2 a billion eggs that need to be stuffed and I realize I can't do it all by myself. So I will be at Trinity tomorrow night (Thurs, April 9) from 7:00-10:00. If anyone can come help me put toys/candy in Easter eggs, I'd greatly appreciate it. It's for the children.

I survived X-mas I'm not going to really get into it here, but X-mas lunch with Ros' fam followed by supper with my fam is a lot like the reality tv show "Wife Swap."

Last Day of Finals I couldn't find my wallet this morning- turns out I left it at my sister's house
I left the house 1/2 an hour late. There was no gas in my car. I didn't have any money to buy gas b/c my wallet was at my sister's house.
Went back in to get cash from hubby.
At gas station, I couldn't get the car out of park. Called husband using my cell. Wrestled with gear shift for almost 10 minutes. Just as husband arrived to rescue me, i got it to work. Called him again to tell him I was on my way to school.
Arrived at school. Parking garage was full. Parked in Carpool parking slot- even though I don't have a permit. Took test. Didn't do well, hopefully didn't fail. Went back to car- avoided ticket.
As I drove home, I saw a real buffalo. I wanted to tell Ross, but my cell wasn't in my backpack.
Went home, checked backpack and car- couldn't find cell. Ate lunch, took a nap. Drove back to school, still can't find cell and no one has turned it in

Ross is turning 30 Birthday Party at Kobe on Dec 6th. There's an evite going around b/c I need to make a reservation by the 1st. There are people who I know we want to invite, but we don't have their emails. So yeah, all residents of Ft Norton and other who may not have gotten the evite, please let me know if you want to come so I can count you in the reservation

Moving Day Hey guys. We are moving into our house (finally) this Sat and we need help. We're going to try to start early at 8AM. Breakfast will be provided. Maggie Update Her eye is completely better. Her leg is better most of the time. Sometime she'll remember to limp if she wants something.
Maggie is however in big trouble because she ate $10 worth of maple pecans I bought from Whole Foods. In the process she ruined my lunch today because I was going to put some of those pecans in my salad. The salad is just no good without them.

Puppy Love Poor Maggie can't catch a break. She's still gimpy from getting hurt last week. Yesterday she was outside playing with 3 little puppy friends. Then Eli, a yellow dog whom she has met before, suddenly became overprotective of the young puppies and bit Maggie right under her eye. So now her eye is all swollen and sore and her back hind leg is hurt

Energy Request for Another Well Loved Puppy Maggie is limping around, not using her back hind leg. She is shaking a lot and in very much pain. She's not eating. Anyone who knows Maggie knows that she loves to eat. We took her to the Animal Hospital last night. We still don't know what is wrong with her leg. We don't think it is broken. I hope it is not broken. We've got her on an antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory and some pain meds. Any healing energy and prayers would be appreciated.

A Call for Assistance As many of you know, Ross and I are moving to a small house near Bastrop. The house needs a lot of work. If you are able to help any of the following times, it would be much appreciated. As always, helpers will be fed.
Sat Oct 4th. Painting Day starting around 8 AM until ...
Sat Oct 25th Odd Job Day (may include screening in the back porch or hanging the doors or putting in floors or whatever) starting at noon.
Sat Nov 15th Moving Day starting around 9:30 AM
Do these dates work for you? Do you have any paintbrushes, hammers, power tools or other useful things that we could borrow?

Hurricane Ike 2 Looks like Ike is turning to the East. Also, it is predicted to be only a Cat 1 or tropical storm now. Not nearly as bad as what was predicted earlier today.Eh power may go out for a little bit, but it won't be so bad. I probably won't even get out of school tomorrow

Hurricane Coming Are you guys ready? I'm not worried about much hurricane damage in Austin. We are too far inland. But we may lose power for a while.
Make sure you have: at least 3 gallons of water per person
extra water for pets
flashlights
batteries
board games (books or Suduku)
non-perishable food
non-electric can opener
battery operated radio
First Aid Kit
baby wipes
trash bags
duct tape
wrench or pliers
Bring in any plants or furniture that you have on your balconies. Those of you who live alone, make plans with a friend or stay at someone's house
Charge your cell phones.
