The operators of a leisure centre in Tameside have issued an update after a child was rushed to hospital following a cardiac arrest. Emergency services were called to Hyde Leisure Pool on Sunday afternoon (May 3) after the child suffered a medical emergency during a swimming session.
The pool was evacuated, with witnesses reporting that staff performed CPR before paramedics arrived. Active Tameside, which runs the facility, confirmed on Monday (May 4) that the child is making a full recovery at hospital.

It also praised an off-duty paramedic who assisted throughout the medical emergency. A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a medical incident occurred yesterday (May 3) during our swimming session at Active Hyde, the emergency services attended the scene, and we are pleased to confirm that the individual is making a full recovery at hospital.
"We would like to thank all our staff and the public for their support in such a challenging matter, especially to an off-duty paramedic who offered assistance.
"All services have resumed as normal today."
Ambulance crews confirmed on Sunday that emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a child in cardiac arrest at the leisure centre.
A North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) spokesperson said on Sunday: "We received a call for a child in cardiac arrest at Active Hyde and several NWAS resources were dispatched to the scene, in which a patient was then taken to Tameside General Hospital."
