MCA Chicago Store - Chicago Artists & Gifts (original) (raw)

Featured Artist

Lee Quiñones

Lee Quiñonesis considered the single most influential artist to emerge from the New York City subway art movement. He is a celebrated figure in both the contemporary art world and in popular culture circles, faithfully producing work that is ripe with provocative socio-political content and intricate composition. One of the originators of street art, Lee started painting on New York City’s streets and subway cars in 1974 and was instrumental in moving street art above the ground. Over the next decade he would paint more than 125 whole subway cars throughout the MTA system before shifting to a studio-based practice.

I am a steady shopper at the MCA shop. They always have unique merchandise, and work hard to make the sale. Recently I wanted a special wedding gift for a niece; something a bride might treasure forever. I selected ten Warhol dinner size plates. The shop manager, Alanna worked hard to come up with the plates and get them shipped out in time. The bride and groom went bananas! They adore the elegant, unusual gift and said, 'We will treasure these always!'

Great staff and reasonable price

I had to go out of town for a while and staff was so understanding of my situation and kept my purchases for days. Also, curbside pick-up was convenient. Great price of such good items.
