Summary A young man, Aren (Justice Smith), is recruited into a secret society of magical Black people who dedicate their lives to a cause of utmost importance: making white people’s lives easier.

Beneath the layers of magical realism and dot-com satire, American Society feels personal and raw, capturing the real depth and range of emotions that a person of color is made to feel, living in a country where racism remains ever-present, especially now.

Even with its faults, though, “Magical Negroes” is sure to spark meaningful and needed conversations around race among the audiences reflected in the film. At the very least, Libii shows that he is witty and adept enough as a director to continue working in his craft.

من اجمل الافلام التي شاهدتها في حياتي الفيلم رأئع جدا أنصحكم أن تشاهدون الفيلم واستمتعت به

This film is an absolute masterpiece. Unfortunately, due to widespread racism, it didn’t receive the reception it deserves. This piece tackles racism with humor, creativity, and accuracy. The rhythm of the movie is superb: it’s a comedy, so there are plenty of funny scenes, but these are interspersed with more serious moments that advance the plot beautifully and do justice to the gravity of racism while keeping the film overall lighthearted. Another aspect of the movie that is excellently executed is the relationship between Aren and Lizzie. I often cringe at romance as traditionally depicted in romcoms, but this one was so well written and refreshing. There’s no unnecessary drama rooted in emotional immaturity or the classic trope of competing for the girl. The challenges faced by the protagonists are consistent with the story and logical, contributing to the plot’s development and adding layers to the film's exploration of racism. They face these challenges realistically and maturely. In conclusion, this is one of the best movies ever created to address race. It’s hilarious, creative, and beautiful. It became one of my favorite movies instantaneously!

[An] unevenly written but good-looking directorial debut that gradually runs out of steam.

The challenge of a film like The American Society of Magical Negroes is that the joke rarely goes beyond the single line premise for the movie, missing the opportunity to offer a biting analysis.

At various points, the film seems to be on the verge of something riveting.

Like a comedy sketch that overstays its welcome, “Society” undermines both its caustic intent and its romantic-comedy subplot.

There are versions of this premise relevant to a modern world, but the film’s point of view on the state of race relations feels stuck somewhere around 1954.

The people hating on this movie have never seen it. The title and subject matter trigger people but that doesn't stop it from being a decent movie. It is straightforward to sit through. My only gripe with it is that it gets too preachy at the end.

Racist propaganda disguised as ****'spoorly written and full of bad dialogue and it's funny and sad that the usual suspects hurt each other at record numbers but we never hear about that. Do we? Save your time and money and ignore this racist garbage

An all-time weird premise, that is so hard to describe and understand tonally. Some performances are ok and it has some visual flair, but it is extremely under baked.

Beneath the layers of magical realism and dot-com satire, American Society feels personal and raw, capturing the real depth and range of emotions that a person of color is made to feel, living in a country where racism remains ever-present, especially now.
