In a pair of elegantly chilling sequences (the editing in this film is superb), Maya and Ryan fight for their lives against the needle-drop background of first “Nights in White Satin” by the Moody Blues and later “The Best of Times” by Styx. You’ll never think of those classic rock tunes in the same way again.

Yes, the masks are great. And yes, home invasions will aways be scary. But when it comes to messing with genre classics, your answer to “Why remake a near-perfect film?” can’t be “It was here.”

I simply found it incredible and interesting that they brought this classic film back to life with the opportunity for this new generation to watch it, I thought the film was incredible, and I also can't help but mention the impeccable performance of the actors, it really gave me goosebumps, already I'm looking forward to watching The Strangers - Chapter 2

overll a rrerllyy grreat movie, I definitely enjoyed watching and would absolutely recommend!

Once we're able to see Harlin's new trilogy as a whole, “Chapter 1” might feel more essential to the 4.5-hour experience. Right now, it just feels overly familiar.

Marking Harlin’s trumpeted return to a genre in which he established himself as something of a journeyman (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Exorcist: The Beginning), The Strangers: Chapter 1 makes decent use of its contained setting – the house itself, to wheel out the cliché, is its own character – but can’t cut through the sense of fatigue.

Whereas Bertino’s original was sleek, sinister and deft, this do-over is noisy, dull and dumb as a bag of rocks.

The hapless script — written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland and based on the original — offers nothing fresh in a tiring 91 minutes, and nothing daring to justify a new “Strangers” film, let alone a new series, especially when Bertino’s formidable film is streaming on Max.

Sometimes the over-the-top violence can be a saving grace in such genre films. Sometimes the villain makes them worth watching. Occasionally, the suspense atones for a world of shortcomings. Not here.

I loved it. Lionsgate production at their best. We’re so used to average amateur made movies lately, but I could really sense the quality of production in this one. I really like that they’re building on the story in a chapter series too, builds up the suspense and the movie. Acting was brilliant, I really felt the moment at the end in the characters last moment together. Can’t wait for the next one!

The movie is very interesting and thrilling and fans mayalsolikeit but as the time passes the thrillget slower and some of the scenes seems soun realistic that the whole experience get ruined.Additinally the masked ppl are so weak there should be more serious thrilling secens.

The film struggles from the get go to relate to the characters because they neither delve into who they are or what they're capable of, even though you can tell the two main characters have more to give... There's moments where you can genuinely see the director having some vision, and are some really clever shots, angles and imagery... But not enough to warrant it to be artsy or intelligent.

Hot garbage. Like many others I thought it was a prequel to the first two. It's not. It's a brand new trilogy. No answers about wtf Tamara is. Just a brutally acted temu version of the first. 3.0. Few moments I said "oh that was cool" but very few.
