Wheelhouse [is] perhaps his most ambitious album to date, taking on such hot-button topics as spousal abuse, Southern provincialism, racism and social justice alongside characteristically well-crafted mainstream country fare.
Don't let ["Accidental Racist"] dissuade you. Paisley still knows how to have a good time and standout singles "Southern Comfort Zone" and "Beat This Summer" continue to showcase this.
The musicianship on Wheelhouse is incredible and Brad just keeps on getting more flavorful as a guitarist. Serious music buffs are going to love Wheelhouse, while cursory fans may be left scratching their heads.

As fun and pleasurable as many of Paisley’s big-screen pop melodies, sharp guitar hooks and detail-filled songscapes on Wheelhouse can be, those two supposedly challenging songs ["Those Crazy Christians" and "Accidental Racist"] point out again how intellectually limited Paisley’s wheelhouse is.
