Callum Keith Rennie’s Captain Rayner makes for an intriguing addition to the cast, and the show looks as amazing as it ever has. Through four episodes, the last voyage of the USS Discovery is on course to stick the landing.

On top of a compelling treasure hunt-style story and its complex characters, Discovery Season 5 also delivers some incredible action sequences and truly breathtaking visuals.

Ok, I liked episode 4, unexpectedly good. Thanks. I hope I liked at least one more episode.

I am 60 years old and have watched Star Trek since the original series. I am a huge fan of Star Trek discovery and strange new worlds. I love the concept of Star Trek and what it would mean if we ever get there as far as the utopian Society depicted However, I have been disappointed at times in the writing for discovery season five and Some prior seasons I think the whole development, especially of the gay and non-binary characters is too much and I’m gay myself! I am gay and I welcome the inclusion, I do! But I got tired of hearing about their feelings and hearing them whine incessantly Instead of the show, focusing on the premise of exploring new worlds and seeking out new life. I overall love the characters and love the premise of the show. I loved Maykel and the main characters, but the gay doctor and engineer and the binary young woman whatever she is just became so annoying to me I want to see the Star Trek franchise continue But maybe chart a different course and please give the next gay characters some balls. We are not all like that! Thanks!

A valedictory vibe is definitely in the air in the first four episodes of Season 5 made available to critics, but it mostly trades “we had a good run” moments for propulsive action.

Hidden is the agenda, but it still is prominently there. It LOOKS gorgeous. Basically what we have been expecting from Nu trek for the 7 years. But it simply cannot escape its DNA. Still promoting very hate filled views that do NOT align with trek's ethos. So the best thing about this season is that mercifully it will soon finally be over. Which I think Academy will present the GOOD things from ST D while dialing back a lot of the things that served as its albatross. Episodes are mostly above average, but take a hit for all the ham fisted subtext that does more to break canon than fix problems this specific star trek show created.

A couple of okay episodes but this season was extremely difficult to watch. Most of the characters are annoying, and the choices made throughout season 5 make no sense. Plot holes all over the place. I'm glad this is finally over!

This series started with such promise back in 2017 but it has devolved into a preachy after-school special determined to teach viewers "important" lessons about inclusion. The protagonists do not hail from StarFleet—they are a hyperactive Human Resources department from the most annoyingly pedantic space corporation imaginable.

Ugh. That's the entirety of my review of what I've seen of season 5, and really all it deserves.

What's with all the melodramatic sentimentality? Hugging, crying, and talking about feelings. This is how far Star Trek has fallen. Boring fluff trash.
