How to make an AI PowerPoint presentation
1. Open PowerPoint
Start a new presentation or open an existing deck that you want to refresh.
2. Open Copilot in PowerPoint
From the Home tab in PowerPoint online or the desktop app, select Copilot. If you don’t see the Copilot option, you’ll need to first subscribe to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
3. Enter a prompt
In the Copilot pane, type your request into the prompt field and select Send. Describe what you want to create, including your topic, audience, tone, and (optionally) the number of slides. For example:
Create a 10-slide presentation about the best vegetarian restaurants in Brooklyn. Use a friendly, easy-to-understand tone.
You can also use Add Slide with Copilot from the Home tab on the ribbon to enter a prompt directly within a slide. PowerPoint AI will design a slide with suggested content—both text and images—and layout.
4. Review the draft outline or slides
Once Copilot generates suggested content, review the outline or the fully designed slides, depending on how you’re using AI for PowerPoint. Scan for overall structure, key points, and slide order to make sure the content matches your goals.
5. Refine the content and structure
You can use PowerPoint AI to make targeted edits to the presentation. Ask Copilot to rewrite slide text, add or remove slides, reorder sections, or adjust the tone and level of detail.
6. Polish visuals and finalize
Make any final adjustments to formatting, visuals, and layout directly in your PowerPoint slides. When you’re ready, you can present, share, or collaborate on the AI PowerPoint presentation as you normally would.
