The mining area is situated to the north of Sinkhwa village, where 6 joint ventures use myaw-dwin mining method to work the alluvial gravel. Low-to-medium cabochon grade rubies and sapphires are recovered mostly in small sizes. Star rubies and star sapphires are often found, weighing between 3 to 5 ct.
