Bispbergs Klack, Säters kommun, Dalarnas län, Sverige

Located near the summit of Bispbergs Klack (314 m above sea level) about 2 km from Storgruvan, the main mine of the Bispberg Fe mines and prospects (see http://www.mindat.org/loc-212520.html).

On the N & NE slope there existed a number of old mines and prospecting pits. One of these is the TL of Scheelite.

Cronstedt (1751) reveals that he found the mineral that later would be named scheelite, occurring in "masses in a Cu prospect on the hill of Bispbärget in the parish of Säter".

Hisinger (1826, p. 77) mentions that "tungstein" (the old German name for scheelite) occurred as a rarity in deserted mines on the Eastern side of the mountain in red feldspar and quartz, but could not be found any more at the time - only in old collections.

The area was worked for Mo during World War II, seen today as Bispbergs Mo Mine, "Molybdengruvan", but it cannot be positively related to the exact TL for scheelite.

The coordinates are for the summit.
