Christine McGuinness and Love Island stars take over iconic Manchester venue for Channel 4 show

Christine McGuinness, Celebrity Big Brother winner David Potts and many more stars took over Manchester Arndale earlier today to mark the second series of Channel 4 show The Piano

A whole host of famous faces took over Manchester Arndale earlier today to celebrate the upcoming second series of Channel 4's BAFTA-nominated series The Piano.

Celebrities from Manchester and beyond joined members of the public in attempting to play tunes with their feet on a seven-metre piano. Joining in the fun were Christine McGuinness, Love Island All Stars winner Molly Smith, Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter, Celebrity Big Brother winner David Potts, media personality Scott Thomas and The Traitors runner up Jaz Singh.

During the musical fun, Christine teamed up with Scott and David to have a go on the seven-metre piano. Jorgie and Molly also tackled the big keys, while Molly also revealed her talents in the grand piano. Scott was joined by niece Scarlett Thomas (Waterloo Road) and performer Danny Wilsher who appeared in series one of The Piano. Together, Scarlett and Danny performer a version of Shallow with Scarlett wowing Manchester Arndale with her vocal talents.

The big piano is installed in Exchange Court in Manchester Arndale until Sunday 21st April in celebration of series two of Channel 4's The Piano. Claudia Winkleman returns to host The Piano, the 2023 award-winning series that won over the nation. She's joined by globally acclaimed pianist, Lang Lang, and international hitmaker, Mika.

Together, they spotlight the skills of unknown pianists performing on public pianos throughout the UK. In the first episode of the fresh series, Claudia, Mika, and Lang Lang are back on the trail for extraordinary amateur pianists. Their quest kicks off at Manchester Piccadilly Station, where they encounter a classically trained boxer, a dance DJ with a heavenly voice, and an 80 year old romantic who tugs at their heartstrings. Who will they select to perform at the grand final concert in Manchester?
