Lauren Goodger has claimed The Only Way Is Essex scenes were faked
Lauren Goodger has made shocking claims that scenes on The Only Way Is Essex were completely fabricated for entertainment value.
The 37-year-old has been a cast member on ITV's long-running show on and off since 2010 - with early seasons of the show focusing on her explosive romance with then-boyfriend Mark Wright. Lauren has claimed that Towie would cast women purely to appear as 37-year-old Mark's love interest - and has claimed that the romances and scenes were all fake.
Her explosive claims come just months after she re-joined the cast of the show during the 2024 season. Lauren also claimed that producers concocted an on-screen personal for Mark that is far from his real life personality.
The pair got together when they were 15 years old and went on to date for more than a decade. Opening up to Celeb's Go Dating star Paul C. Brunson on his new podcast, titled Better With Paul, Lauren claimed: "We had cameras on us, we had press... 'bad boy Mark'.

"He wasn't a bad boy, that's just how they [the showmakers] portrayed him. What is quite hard is that yes, there were difficult times and I'm not saying it wasn't hard but it wasn't all bad from him. He was a good person and a good partner but they say 'he treated you terribly' - that was just for the show."
She then gave insight into the way scenes were allegedly filmed - suggesting some women were hired purely to create tension between her and Mark. Lauren claimed: "We would do a scene and then go home and have tea and biscuits. He would arrive with another girl [on camera] but really he has arrived with me.
"That is when it got a bit complicated as people were like 'he is seeing this one and that one' and I am like 'no, we arrived together, she is only on it to be on the show'. It was hard for me as I was trying to be understanding and just film and try and let the viewers see this storyline but not go 'hold on a minute, he did not arrive with her!' It makes it look like I'm crazy!" The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.
