A survey of 2,000 UK adults has uncovered that David Beckham and Ed Sheeran are among the celebs Brits would most like to befriend, coming in fourth and fifth place.

Taylor Swift, Adele, and Alison Hammond also secured spots in the top 10, while football icons Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Mary Earps, and Manchester City's boss Pep Guardiola were favourites too.

But for fictional dream teams, the Friends cast took the lead with 20% of votes, closely followed by Harry Potter's trio of friends at 18%. Joining The Avengers or mingling with The Big Bang Theory gang were also high on the wish list.

The poll was carried out by Supercell to mark the launch of their new mobile game, Squad Busters, which involves players in multiplayer battles to gather gems with their squads.

A spokesperson from the company commented: "The results show Brits would love the thrill of hearing behind-the-scenes Hollywood stories one minute, getting life-changing saving tips the next - and then hearing all the locker room tales from their favourite footballers."

In terms of real-life groups, The Beatles and The Rat Pack were the ultimate squads people wanted to join, with 20% and 14% of the vote respectively. While some are enamoured with the idea of joining the 'Hollywood Ladies' - Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Reese Witherspoon (11%).

Others fancy themselves as part of Manchester United's legendary class of '92 (10%) - the team that catapulted the club into its most successful era.
