A former hotel housekeeper revealed why she never drinks the coffee provided in her hotel room - and it's vile.

In a TikTok video, the woman shared a list of things she "wouldn't use or touch" in hotel rooms after witnessing firsthand how often they're cleaned. To start, she would "never, ever use" the coffee pot or glassware in her hotel room as she claims the housekeepers merely wipe them down rather than replace them each time a guest checks out.

She said: "Usually a housekeeper just rinses these things out in the bathroom sink and dries them off with the same rag they use to clean the rest of the room with. The next thing I would never use or touch in a hotel room would be the ice bucket. A lot of times, a lot of people innocently use these as water dishes for their pets but there are other times when people do much worse things to these buckets."

The woman says as soon as she enters a hotel room, she removes the bedspread claiming it's riddled with germs and is only changed once a year or if there is a visible stain on it.

Seconding this, another user who claims to have worked at a hotel said: "We both can share stories because I have some scary stories." Another user added: "My mum taught me to always bring a ziplock bag to put the remote control in. They work and you don't have to touch it."

A third user said: "I hate hotels. Bring my own everything and I don't touch anything. Whoever I'm with be like girl chill out." One more user added: "Thank you! I always throw the bedspread off the bed ASAP. My husband swears it’s cleaned and wants to sleep with it. It’s a fight."

However, another housekeeper says her claims are only true for some hotels as the chain she works at goes above and beyond with their cleaning regime. She said: "I worked for a major hotel chain. We changed sheets, blankets, duvets pillow cases, and protectors every day. I threw cups away. Used colour-coded rags."
