I’m calling it - 2023 is the year of the Christmas power suit and it’s a trend we are very much on board with. And, This Morning’s Lisa Snowdon has left viewers swooning after sporting a ‘gorgeous’ velvet co-ord that’s perfect for festive occasions.
The 51-year-old model knows a thing or two about fashion and how to nail the trends, and her diamante velvet suit has been reduced just in time for party season, making it over £40 cheaper than one similar at River Island.
The black sparkling ensemble comes from Lisa’s autumn-winter collection with high street retailer Wallis, which launched just five weeks ago. Originally £79, the dazzling blazer has been slashed by 40 per cent down to £47.40, while the matching tapered trousers are £49.50.
The jacket boasts padded shoulders and notched lapels for a strong silhouette, while the plush trousers feature a hidden elastic waistband to ensure a perfect fit every time, making them comfortable for all day wear - even after Christmas dinner.
Sharing the outfit on her social media, Lisa dubbed it the ‘suit of dreams’, with fans obsessing over the look, commenting: “That suit! I am here for it!!!! You look incredible Lisa!”,
“You look gorgeous, I love that suit” and “You always look so amazing in a suit!”
The Wallis suit is a more affordable alternative to the Black Velvet Sparkle Tux Blazer and matching trousers at River Island, which cost £85 and £55 respectively, but this one does also come in petite and plus to offer shoppers a more personalised fit.

A River Island employee told me it’s one of the reasons their suits have been so popular this year, telling me: “The suit is one of our bestsellers because we stock it in petite so it gives shoppers more choice.it also comes in black and red and the cut of them is really nice - they look great on.”
The velvet is gorgeously festive, and the sparkle looks incredible when it catches the light. It’s actually quite subtle and will show up more in some photos than others. The wide leg trousers are stunning and would look great on their own with a silver blouse, while the blazer would really glam up a black satin slip dress - mini or maxi.
