A couple who bought their dream home were shocked to find it came with one horrendous problem and eyesore - a neighbour's giant window overlooking their garden to the point they felt like they were being watched.

This is when the couple embarked on transforming the garden and creatively blocking out the towering window. The pair launched a TikTok series called "Operation Hide the Window" with them planting a series of trees and plants to obscure the window into the room while simultaneously improving their garden space.

The couple are now celebrating the garden two years on from the beginning of the challenge.

Posting their achievement on their TikTok account, they managed to hide the "monstrosity" from view as it "completely disappeared" behind the barrier formed from their trees and shrubs planted in the garden. A source told the MailOnline: "The neighbours think what they have done to brighten up the garden and the locality is wonderful.

"They have brightened up the area and there hasn't been a single complaint from the people in the dormer. They haven't caused any trouble for the house with the huge dormer and window and everyone is happy."

It is reported that the couple bought the terraced house in Leytonstone, east London, just over £700,000. They say they haven't received any complaints from their neighbours and have only had compliments on the renovation in their garden.

The window is said to be the only downside of the property, with the window being put in more than 10 years ago. It was built after the owners of a shop that backs onto the house was refused planning permission to convert the building into a house in 2006.

A year later the local council approved the plans to convert one part of the property into a flat. The garden has since been completely transformed, with an array of garden furniture being laid across the yard, while a plethora of plants have been planted over the course of the two years.

It is now completely transformed and unrecognisable from the beginning of their "operation". In the caption of a video showing the dormer window, the couple wrote on TikTok: "Okay, so we bought a house in 2022. A neighbour built this horrid extension breaching planning permission with the window. It was built over 10 years ago so we can't challenge it/get them to remove."

The Spanish speaking occupants of the building with the gigantic window declined to comment when they were approached by the MailOnline but said they didn't have a problem with the plants installed to hide the dormer. The couple also declined to comment when approached by the MailOnline
