A man won £3 on a lucky dip moments before his girlfriend realised she'd scooped more than £100,000.

Laura Hatch, from Louth, Lincolnshire, is finally looking forward to owning a home of her own after winning big on EuroMillions.

The 27-year-old was sat up in bed checking her phone one Saturday morning earlier this month, before spotting a confirmation from the National Lottery.

Her partner Chris had just found out he'd won £3 in the same draw on February 5.

Graphic designer and web content manager Laura was gobsmacked to find she had matched all five main numbers as well as the Lucky Star.

She said she was so tired she couldn't quite process what the message was telling her, so she passed her phone to Chris who couldn't hide his excitement.

"I had literally just woken up and was sitting in bed scrolling on my phone," explained Laura.

"We both logged into our National Lottery online accounts and Chris discovered he had won £3 in the EuroMillions draw.

Laura had just woken up when she got the confirmation

"I had bought two EuroMillions Lucky Dip tickets for the same draw so I just thought I may as well check my tickets too.

"I quickly realised I had won something and thought it was probably £3 like Chris.

"My eyes were really tired and I couldn’t see clearly what was in front of me so I asked Chris to check for me.

"He just burst out with…'you have won £100k!'

Boyfriend Chris won £3 on the same draw

"I said, ‘no, never, something like this wouldn’t happen to us!’ And he said, ‘no, really, you absolutely have!’

"I just couldn’t believe it," said Laura. "We just sat looking at each other – I was totally gob-smacked – there are no other words for it!"

She went on to say it was only when she called Camelot to confirm the win that she started to believe what had happened.

Laura said the win is life changing

Laura, who moved from Essex to Lincolnshire to live closer to her family, said a deposit on a house with a garage and garden is now a top priority.

Chris, 26, also wants a motorbike and the pair have their hearts set on a dream holiday as soon as it is allowed and safe to do so.

"How many 27-year-olds can say they have enough money to put a deposit on a house?" said Laura.

"This win really is a life-changer for us. All of those things I have dreamed about can now become a reality."

The couple, who currently live in a Shared Ownership house, say a new build is something they have always dreamed of owning but never believed they would be able to afford.

"So many new opportunities have now opened up to us," Laura continued.

"It is an incredible feeling. We are both looking forward to making some very special memories together!"

And Laura said she and Chris will definitely be continuing to play The National Lottery.
