Republican JD Vance’s claim that Haitian immigrants are snatching pets for dinner has hit yet another cringeworthy snag.

To defend the bizarre hoax, his campaign pointed to a police report about a woman in Springfield, Ohio, whose cat mysteriously disappeared in August.

They suggested this was proof that the town’s pets are in peril.

That was until it turned out that the creature, Miss Sassy, wasn’t part of some underground feline smorgasbord but simply hiding from her owner, Anne Kilgore, and was alive and well.
