Real Madrid's squad is worth the most in world football, according to a recent study, with three Premier League clubs boasting more than £1billion worth of players.

The Spanish giants claimed the Champions League last season and have some of the most expensive players on the planet. Several of their leading lights are among the world's best, but are also yet to hit their peaks, thus driving up their value.

Kylian Mbappe moved to the club in the summer and further bolstered a squad at the Bernabeu which already included Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jnr and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Manchester City, who were European champions in 2023 and have just claimed four Premier League titles on the trot, have the second most expensive squad in the world with Erling Haaland their most lucrative asset.

Despite them being mocked Chelsea have the third most expensive squad in the world, largely due to them consistently targeting younger players. They have the likes of Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo all in their ranks. Arsenal, whilst finishing 26 points ahead of their London rivals last term, are ranked in fourth by the CIES Football Observatory.

The north Londoners also have a host of young stars whose value will continue to grow. William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard would all command huge fees on the market.

All in all six Premier League sides feature in the top ten. Liverpool perhaps don't have the squad of old, but retain several big names who would achieve huge transfer fees. Trent Alexander-Arnold is entering his peak whilst the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai are also expensive assets.

Manchester United sit above Tottenham with their squad deemed to be nearly £70m more expensive. The Red Devils' group is valued at £828m, which is somewhat concerning given Erik ten Hag himself has spent more than £600m in his three summers at the helm.

Barcelona's squad value of £941m means they round out the top five, splitting in between La Liga and Premier League outfits. Lamine Yamal - one of football's brightest stars - is among their most expensive assets whilst they also have the likes of Pedri and Gavi.

PSG, despite the exit of Mbappe, have the seventh most valuable squad, rated at just over £900m. They can still boasts the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani and Fabian Ruiz, who was one of the stand out individuals for Spain at the Euros.

New German champions Bayer Leverkusen round out the top ten, ahead of Bayern Munich, whom they dethroned in the Bundesliga last season. Xabi Alonso's exciting side boasts the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Tah, helping them rank above the Bavarians.

Narrowly outside of the top ten are Brighton, who sit just ahead of Brighton to underline their impressive recruitment policy. The likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid are in the top twenty, as are Champions League new boys Aston Villa.

Leeds United and Burnley are the only second tier clubs to make the top 100 whilst Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr also sneak in.
