A Tottenham player appeared to hit out at the club after their 1-0 loss to Arsenal

Tottenham defender Cristian Romero appeared to hit out at the club after sharing a social media post that claimed he was not given a private jet to return from Argentina last week.

Romero had a difficult day in Tottenham's 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal on Sunday after being guilty of losing his marker at a corner before Gabriel Magalhaes scored a free header to secure a narrow victory.

There were claims that Gabriel could have had his winning goal disallowed after appearing to shove Romero in the back in the build-up - with Arsenal icon Paul Merson even admitting the Brazilian was lucky.

However, Romero still looked slow to react to Gabriel as he appeared to stop in his tracks, allowing his rival to leap up and bury his header beyond goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

After the game, Argentine reporter Gaston Edul wrote a post on X claiming Romero was suffering with tiredness and that Spurs decided to let their players return from international duty on their own after Argentina played matches against Chile and Colombia.

" Tottenham lost to Arsenal again," he wrote. "They weren’t able to fight until the end because they weren’t across the details.

"It was the only Premier League club that made their international players return, on their own and without proper logistics, on the decision of the club’s leadership. They gave away the advantage because their players arrived with less rest than the others: Cuti Romero played with tiredness."

Cristian Romero reposted and then deleted a tweet claiming Spurs failed to fly him home from Argentina

Romero, who played the full 90 minutes against both Chile and Colombia last week before returning on Wednesday, initially reposted the tweet on X before deleting it.

Premier League clubs are not obligated to transport players from other countries after the end of the international break and that burden usually lies with the nations themselves.

Tottenham are not known for flying players back to the club on private jets and didn't feel it was necessary in Romero's case given that Thursday was a day off for Postecoglou's players, according to the Sun.

Romero, a World Cup winner with Argentina, has played 101 games for Spurs and is considered an important member of the club's back line but has been accused of reckless play - picking up 23 yellow cards and two reds. Tottenham's next game is a trip to Coventry in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday.
