All homes using Freeview urged to follow simple advice or miss out on channel upgrade (original) (raw)

Freeview is switching things up with some changes to the TV planner.

If you use Freeview, it’s worth checking your settings and retuning your device without delay. The hugely popular UK TV platform has just confirmed the rollout of an update that brings several changes to the channel lineup and telly guide. Freeview says that from this week, some broadcasters are making adjustments, so a retune is needed to keep channels and the TV guide up to date.

So, what’s new?

There's a total of four changes that have been announced. Firstly, three current channels have been rebranded with new names, which will now appear when whizzing through the telly guide.

Here's what has changed.

That’s TV 3 (Channel 71) is now That’s 20th Century, which shows music from past decades along with iconic shows such as Yes, Minister, In Sickness and in Health and The Saint.

That’s TV 3 MCR (Channel 86) becomes That’s 20th Century MCR and That’s Classics MCR (Channel 93) is now simply That’s Classics.

So that's the rebrands, but it's not all.

There’s also a new channel launching called That’s Entertainment, which will appear on Channel 75. This service is so new that programme listings aren’t widely available yet, but more details are expected soon.

Freeview says these kinds of updates are part of ongoing changes as broadcasters regularly adjust their offerings, helping keep content varied and up to date.

If you have Freeview, you should see these changes appear on the TV planner, if things haven't updated then you might need to give your device a retune by following these steps:

Press the menu button on your remote

Go to settings, installation, or a similar option

Enter your PIN if prompted (commonly 1234 or 0000)

Choose “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” or “full retune”

Confirm that you’re happy to delete existing channels

Your device should then automatically search for and store the updated channels.

While Freeview updates happen throughout the year, this is one of the more significant ones recently, so it’s a good idea to retune sooner rather than later.
