Strictly Come Dancing's 2024 pairings have been leaked

This year's Strictly Come Dancing partnerships have been leaked before the show has even begun.

The hit BBC dance competition is gearing up to put the past year of scandal behind them as the 2024 series launches. It will mark Strictly's 20th anniversary as a new set of celebrities take on the dancefloor in the hopes of winning the Glitterball trophy. The stars taking part include former hockey player Sam Quek MBE, football legend Paul Merson and DIY SOS star Nick Knowles.

They will join Olympian Montell Douglas, EastEnders' Jamie Borthwick, X Factor star Shayne Ward, Miranda star Sarah Hadland, TOWIE's Pete Wicks, Love Islander Tasha Ghouri, Morning Live doctor Dr Punam Krishan, 80's icon Toyah Willcox, Go Compare man Wynne Evans, JLS' JB Gill, comedian Chris McCausland and Olympic swimmer Tom Dean.

However, according to the Daily Star, the surprise has been spoiled by leaks suggesting some of the pairings. Longtime viewers of the reality ballroom competition have been keen to find out which celebrities will be dancing with which professionals.

A spoiler account has leaked what they claim is the entire line-up, causing a mixed reaction among fans. Some are thrilled, while others are upset that the surprise has been ruined. The leak also hints that three professional dancers won't be taking part in the 2024 season.

Ahead of the leak, a BBC spokesperson told the publication: "The celebrity contestant and professional dancer pairings will be revealed (as usual) during the launch show airing on Sat 14th Sept at 19:20 on BBC One and BBC iplayer."

Throughout the summer, the celebrities had been training with their professional dancers. Their matches were kept under wraps, yet tonight the 2024 cast filmed for the first episode. Despite the audience being told to keep hush on the filming, the celebrity pairings have been let slip.

The Strictly stars were filming for the 2024 launch show, which sees professional dancer Amy Dowden welcomed back onto the series. She was forced to miss last years series following her devastating cancer diagnosis. A BBC announcement declared: "During the launch show, alongside a beautifully empowering celebratory dance to welcome Amy Dowden MBE back to the Strictly Ballroom, we will also reveal which celebrity contestants will be paired with which Professional Dancers. Audiences will get a first glimpse of the Strictly class of 2024’s dancing skills in a fabulous group routine."

A launch trailer for the new series has also been released as Strictly promises to be "extra special with even more glitz, glamour and unforgettable performances" as its the 20th anniversary. Strictly's professional dancers showcased their moves in a party bus. The glitzy trailer unsurprisingly doesn't feature any reference to the controversy that has surrounded the long-running show.

This year saw dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima leave the show. Actress Amanda Abbington made allegations of "bullying" and "aggressive behaviour" against her former dance partner Giovanni. While Graziano was sacked amid allegations over his behaviour in the rehearsal room after being partnered with Zara McDermott last year.

In their absence, professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec is making his return to Strictly. He featured in the new trailer as he's seen driving the bus as his colleagues dance in the back. Aljaž said of his return: "I could not be more ecstatic to be back with the Strictly family! This year is such a special one for this legendary show, I can't wait to be a part of it and make my return to the dancefloor."

The trailer is set to We Like To Party! (the Vengabus) by the Vengaboys, which will be part of a medley in the launch episode later this month. The BBC has teased that the cast are "encouraging everyone to get aboard the Strictly bus" for the new series.
