Strictly Come Dancing launches with JLS singer JB Gill leading the odds

Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens this weekend - and there’s a new favourite for the coveted Glitterball trophy.

On the eve of the show’s launch, JLS singer JB Gill has overtaken Love Island ’s Tasha Ghouri as the bookie’s favourite to waltz away with this year’s title, even before the celebrities have been paired with their professional dance partners.

JLS were runners-up to Alexandra Burke in the fifth season of X Factor. But according to aggregated odds quoted by UK bookmakers, former boy band star JB is hotly tipped to go one better and win Strictly.

He leads the betting with odds of 4-1, after overtaking model Tasha, the first ever deaf contestant on Love Island, but only the second on Strictly. Tasha is next on 5-1, with former X Factor winner Shayne Ward hot on her heels at 11-2, followed by EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick on 13-2.

Of 15 celebrities ready to hit the dance floor and compete for the Glitterball, TV handyman Nick Knowles is currently bottom of the pack at 66-1, with only an outside chance of winning the series. You can check the latest Strictly betting using our online odds tracker throughout the series.

On Sunday, the full celebrity line-up was unveiled for the first time, with the famous faces all glammed up following their Strictly makeovers. Dressed to impress, the female contestants were seen wearing sequined fitted dresses while the men sported an array of white, blue and yellow suits.

The dynamic duo, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are all set to return as hosts for the show, joined by judges Craig Revel-Horwood, Anton Du Beke, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse. The roster of professional dancers hoping to be paired with a celebrity includes Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez and Luba Mushtuk.

Other competitors include Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola. After a two-year break, Aljaz Skorjanec is making a grand return to the show that shot him to stardom. The show will span over 14 weeks, with one celebrity being shown the door each week, leading up to a live final on December 14.
