Joe Hisaishi (久石 譲), born Mamoru Fujisawa (藤澤 守) on December 6, 1950 in Nagano, is a Japanese composer. He is best known for composing music for many of Hayao Miyazaki's animated films. He has won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Music six times, and was awarded with a Medal of Honor by the Japanese government in 2009.
