Hotel Lün is a lovingly-run boutique hotel with 15 rooms in Brand in Vorarlberg, Austria. This small, carbon-neutral hotel stands out with its modern peak-gazing rooms, wellness area, and homemade breakfast.
Owned and managed by friendly locals, Hotel Lün offers a perfect base for exploring the village of Brand along with Brandnertal and the magnificent Rätikon Alps. If you have any questions about hikes, or destinations, simply ask Daniel, who will happily discuss all trails, peaks, and huts with you.
During our stay at Hotel Lün, we hiked from Lake Lünersee to Schafgafall, Schesaplana, and Oberzalimhütte – Fürkelesteig.
If you’re embarking on the Rätikon High Trail Circuit, we recommend staying in Hotel Lün before and after your trek. You can store your luggage in the hotel during your hut-to-hut hike.

The Location
Brand is a quiet and peaceful alpine village nestled in the Rätikon Alps.
Hotel Lün is located along the main road that runs through Brand village, near Kirche Mariae Himmelfahrt (church) and the fire station.
It’s a few steps away from Brand Kirche bus stop, with direct connections to Lünerseebahn (Lünersee cableway valley station) and Bludenz, where the closest train station is located.

Given the easy transit connections, guests don’t need a car to visit Brand, or to stay in Hotel Lün.
Additionally, all restaurants, shops, and cableways (Dorfbahn and Palüdbahn) in Brand are within walking distance.
The best restaurant in Brand, Gufer 55, is located directly across the street.
Brand village is the starting point of many adventures in the Rätikon Alps. Directly from Brand, visitors can walk through Sarotla Tal to Sarotlahütte, hike up Zalimtal to Oberzalimhütte and the Brüggelealpe, summit Mottakopf, and ride the bus to the Lünerseebahn, the cableway that connects Brandnertal to Lake Lünersee.
More places of interest in the area include the Bürser Schlucht (ravine) in Bürs and the neolithic stone circle on the Tschengla High Plateau.
The Rooms
Hotel Lün’s 15 rooms and apartments are airy and bright, furnished in a clean and crisp modern style.
There are a variety of rooms, each uniquely furnished. Some rooms have balconies, en-suite saunas, and free standing bathtubs.
We especially enjoyed the comfortable bed, the silence, and the balcony view of Seekopf, Zirmenkopf, Felsenkopf, and Mottakopf.
Even though the hotel is located directly on the main street, it’s quiet at night. In the evening, there’s no traffic, because Branderntal is a dead-end. We slept three nights with an open window.
A bottle of water is provided in the room. Tap water is also drinkable.
Our only complaint is that the balcony is slippery in some areas (after rain) and needs attention.
Breakfast
The breakfast buffet is thoughtfully-prepared, featuring local products and homemade goodies like various cakes, chia pudding, and avocado spread.
The owner is passionate about providing a high-quality, organic breakfast. If it’s not local, it’s responsibly sourced. We loved the local cheeses and cold cuts.
The freshly-squeezed orange juice made with untreated oranges was also a treat.
Throughout breakfast, plates are continuously replenished.
The dining area extends across two rooms and an outdoor terrace. You can sit wherever you’d like.
Breakfast is available between 7:30 am and 10 am.
Wellness and Spa
The lower level of Hotel Lün is dedicated to a modern and well-kept wellness area, which is complimentary for all guests between 4 pm and 8 pm.
The spa comprises a steam sauna, Finnish sauna, infrared cabin, relaxation room, and showers.
Towels are readily available next to the entrance.
There’s also a well-stocked tea bar with a variety of Sonnentor teas, Sonnentor herbal syrups, water, nuts, and fresh fruit.
You’ll find bathrobes and slippers in your room.
Those that prefer a private sauna experience can book the deluxe king suite with infrared sauna.
We thoroughly enjoyed using the spa after our hike to Schesaplana, which ended dramatically in a thunderstorm. We waited over 90 minutes in soaking wet clothing to descend with the cableway back down to the valley (it doesn’t operate during thunderstorms). By the time we got back to Hotel Lün, we were cold (and a bit miserable). The steam sauna was a godsend and probably the reason we didn’t get sick.
Service and Staff
At the helm, Lidija and Daniel run Hotel Lün with charisma and care. If you need assistance with dinner reservations, taxi reservations, hiking recommendations, or anything else, they will help you.
Final Thoughts
Hotel Lün is a perfect choice for travelers who like small, eco-friendly, and thoughtfully-run accommodations.
Complimentary access to the wellness area is a wonderful perk, especially if you’re traveling to Brand in the cooler months of autumn, or in winter.

Getting around Austria
Austria has an excellent public transit system. We’ve used it extensively to travel throughout the country. We highly recommend using transit if you’re visiting cities (Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz, etc…), and/or doing hut-to-hut hikes.
Some areas like Mayrhofen, Schladming and Lech am Arlberg have wonderful seasonal transit systems in place (e.g. summer hiking buses). However, if you’re not visiting during the high season, bus frequencies are significantly reduced and it’s far easier to get around with your own vehicle.
If you’re planning on visiting multiple destinations across Austria, we recommend renting a car.
