The Location

Mösern, Seefeld Plateau, Tyrol, Austria

Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel is located in Mösern, a hamlet on the edge of the Seefeld plateau in Tyrol, high above the Inntal Valley.

With Nidum’s isolated location on the Seefeld Plateau comes stellar views of the Inn Valley and Tyrolean Alps, tremendous peace, and a sense of exclusivity.

Though Nidum Hotel feels a world apart from bustling “urban” areas, it’s only a 5-minute drive to the town center of Seefeld, a 30-minute drive to Innsbruck, a 25-minute drive to Mittenwald, and a 40-minute drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The best way to experience Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel and its breathtaking surroundings is with your own car. A rental car will enable you to get to the trailheads at Gaistal Valley, Leutasch, Scharnitz, Mittenwald, and other destinations.

On days where you’d rather not drive, you can walk from the hotel to Möserer See and Brunschkopf. Consult this three lakes trail guide.

During our stay, we hiked the sensational Rotmoosalm – Wetterstein Hut Circuit Trail, starting in Gaistal Valley. We also walked through the Leutasch Gorge from Schanz.

During our next visit, we hope to hike to Meilerhütte (mountain hut), Predigtstuhl (peak), and Seefelder Spitze (peak).

If you visit in winter, you can explore Seefeld’s 245 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. You can purchase a cross-country ski ticket for the Seefeld region at the reception.

Most of the hotel facilities are contained within the main building. The exceptions are the natural swimming pool and the outdoor Finnish sauna, accessible via a swing bridge from the spa area.

NIDUM Wellness and Spa

Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel indoor-outdoor pool, Tyrol, Austria

The Nidum spa offers a wide range of massage and beauty treatments. You can book all desired treatments at the spa desk.

Like most hotels in the Austrian Alps, the wellness area is divided into a textile zone and a textile-free zone.

The textile zone comprises the indoor-outdoor pool and terrace, the fitness room, yoga-stretching room, and the tea room with a generous selection of teas and candied dried fruit (which ought to be replaced with natural dried fruit, in our humble opinion).

The textile-free zone comprises the sauna area, made-up of 3 indoor saunas (steam, Finnish, and saunarium), 1 outdoor Finnish sauna, an outdoor whirlpool, an outdoor plunge pool, and an indoor relaxation area and showers.

We particularly loved the panoramic views from the outdoor pool and whirlpool. We also enjoyed the candle-lit ambience in the evening.

In addition to the main wellness area, there’s also a natural bathing pool, set between the forest and meadow behind the hotel.

The biggest drawback to the spa area is the insufficient relaxation space in the sauna area. It felt a bit cramped. This is likely a non-issue during the warmer months, when people are more inclined to lounge outside.

The dining area extends across three rooms, each uniquely furnished and decorated.

Dinner

Dinner at Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel, Mösern, Seefeld Plateau, Austria

Apart from our forest- and mountain-facing room, our favorite part about our stay at Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel was the divine half board dinner. What a treat!!

Dinner commences with a generous and heavenly salad and appetizer buffet, brimming with colorful salads and spreads, smoked fish and/or roast beef, Nidum’s special chicken paste, grilled vegetables, and much more.

Dinner continues with soup, followed by a main dish, dessert, and cheese buffet with chutneys There’s a vegetarian option for each served course.

The cuisine pays homage to the region’s flavors and ingredients. Each course was sensational.

Furthermore, we were wowed by the precision and professionalism of the dining staff. The pacing was perfect and attuned to each guest’s wishes.

You can eat dinner any time between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm.

Breakfast

Breakfast buffet at Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel, Tyrol, Austria

A rich and beautiful breakfast buffet is laid out each morning between 7:30 am and 10:30 am.

Expect a tempting selection of Austrian breads, pastries, and cakes: Nussschnecke, Topfengolatschen, Sacher-Torte, Mohnstrudel, Strietzel, croissants, and muffins.

Bowls, overflowing with berries and fruits, line one side of the buffet.

There’s also Bircher Müsli, yogurts, cheeses, sliced meats, spreads (Liptauer, cream cheese, etc…) and everything else you could possibly want.

You can order egg dishes at the egg station.

In addition, there’s an entire room dedicated to juicing. You can make freshly squeezed orange juice, or a vegetable-fruit concoction of your choosing using the readily available lemons, limes, apples, cucumbers, carrots, celery, and ginger.

Coffee and tea are served to the table.

The hotel staff are extremely diligent in refilling and replenishing all the plates throughout breakfast.

Though the breakfast is more than adequate, the buffet area is rather small and can feel a bit cramped. I know this is flawed-American thinking in most cases, but sometimes bigger is truly better.

Good to Know | Each morning, guests are give a morning post, which provides information about the evening’s menu and tips for exploring Nidum’s surroundings.

Lunch

The Wiener Schnitzel was exceptional.

Bar

Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel bar and lounge, Tyrol, Austria

The lounge is a luscious space filled with velvet-upholstered armchairs, leather bar stools, and bench seating that unfurl from the island-bar.

During the warmer months, you can also enjoy your drinks on the terrace, directly outside the bar.

On certain evenings, guests are treated to live music in the bar and lounge.
