Seehotel Einwaller: Lake Achensee Lakefront Hotel, Austria (original) (raw)

Seehotel Einwaller is a 4-star, boutique hotel in Pertisau at Lake Achensee in Tyrol, Austria.

With its coveted lakefront location, Seehotel Einwaller is one of the few hotels around Achensee that offers private lake access.

Additionally, hotel guests can luxuriate in the lake-facing rooftop spa with three saunas and a panoramic relaxation room (included in the room rate).

Part of the appeal of staying here is the hotel’s peaceful, laid-back atmosphere. Seehotel Einwaller is an adults-only hotel (ages 12+), which contributes to the relaxing, restorative environment.

If you’re planning a romantic getaway, or a trip with your best friend, we highly recommend staying in Seehotel Einwaller.

We stayed in Seehotel Einwaller in mid-October, during shoulder season. After long hikes in the surrounding mountains, we savored the lake views from the wellness area and our lake-view room.

We especially appreciated the on-site restaurant, because many restaurants in Pertisau were already closed for the season. Having the possibility to eat dinners in the hotel made our whole experience stress-free.

The Location

Seehotel Einwaller Private Jetty, Lake Access, Pertisau, Austria

Seehotel Einwaller occupies a central location in Pertisau. Every notable attraction is within walking distance, including the ship pier and the Karwendel-Bergbahn, the starting point of the Bärenkopf summit hike.

Pertisau is the gateway to three valleys that lead into Karwendel Nature Park: Tristenautal, Falzthurntal, and Gerntal. These valleys are etched with cross-country routes, mountain biking paths, and hiking trails.

In winter, Pertisau is a great base for cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking, and family-friendly skiing.

In summer and fall, Pertisau is one of the best places to hike in Austria.

Directly from the hotel, guests can follow the lakeside path to Gaisalm hut. Starting at Gramaialm (accessible by a toll road), you can hike the Lamsenjochhütte and Hahnkampel circuit trail (moderate). Take the bus to Achenkirch to start the thrilling Seekarspitze – Seebergspitze ridge trail (difficult), which leads back to Pertisau.

More recommended hikes: Hochiss summit hike starting at Rofanseilbahn mountain station (moderately difficult) and the Unnütz circuit trail starting in Achenkirch (difficult).

The hotel’s dining area spills out into the lake-facing garden, scattered with tables that fan out from the gazebo bar.

There’s also an ice cream truck, open seasonally, which serves homemade ice cream.

The 5-floor building is located along Pertisau Seepromenade, the road that runs parallel to the lake.

Though there are no visual obstructions (e.g. other buildings) between Seehotel Einwaller and Lake Achensee, the Seepromenade road runs between the hotel and the hotel’s private bathing jetty.

The Rooms at Seehotel Einwaller

Seehotel Einwaller Lake View Room, Pertisau, Achen Lake, Tyrol, Austria

We stayed in the “Superior Double Room with Panoramic View, ” a lakeview room with a bathtub and balcony.

Wood, leather, and stone dominate, lending the place a subdued alpine-modern look.

Though on the snug-side, the stylish room is carefully arranged to emphasize the view of the lake. Both the queen bed and the bathtub face Lake Achen.

Bathrooms are supplied with ARGAN by La Bottega cosmetics: hand wash, hand and body cream, body wash, and shampoo.

Dinner

Dinner at Seehotel Einwaller, Pertisau, Achensee, Austria

Seehotel Einwaller strives to create an informal and laid-back dining atmosphere. Contrary to the traditional Tyrolean style, guests are encouraged to eat when they want (within a certain time frame) and take as long as they like.

The first two courses are self-service and the main course and dessert are served to the table.

The highlight of dinner is the appetizer and salad buffet, a sumptuous and surprising selection of warm and cold dishes. Definitely try the vegan melon salad dressing.

Good to Know | The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays.

Service and Staff

The hotel staff is excellent, especially the dining staff (breakfast and dinner).

Final Thoughts

Bio sauna with lake view at Seehotel Einwaller, Pertisau, Achensee, Austria

Offering private lake access, a panoramic rooftop spa, stylish rooms (many with lake views), and an on-site restaurant, Seehotel Einwaller is the perfect choice for an active and/or romantic getaway at Lake Achensee.

We stayed at Seehotel Einwaller during shoulder-season (mid-October), a very quiet and peaceful time of year. We hiked during the day and enjoyed the spa in the late afternoon. Although we couldn’t take advantage of the private jetty (open, but too cold), we loved the hotel’s privileged lakefront location.

The food served in the restaurant is good, but not excellent.

When to Visit Austria

We recommend visiting Austria between June and October for hiking and between December and March for skiing and winter adventuring.

Summer Travel | Summer in Austria

Autumn Travel | Autumn in Austria

Winter Travel | December in Salzburg, December in Vienna, and January in Vienna

Getting around Austria

Austria has an excellent public transit system. We’ve used it extensively to travel throughout the country. We highly recommend using transit if you’re visiting cities (Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz, etc…), and/or doing hut-to-hut hikes.

Some areas like Mayrhofen, Schladming and Lech am Arlberg have wonderful seasonal transit systems in place (e.g. summer hiking buses). However, if you’re not visiting during the high season, bus frequencies are significantly reduced and it’s far easier to get around with your own vehicle.

If you’re planning on visiting multiple destinations across Austria, we recommend renting a car.

Use these road trip itineraries for trip planning inspiration:

Car Rental

We recommend using the Discovercars.com car rental reservation platform to search for and book car rentals. This easy-to-use booking platform compares car rental deals from 500+ trusted providers, so that you can choose the best option for your trip.

If you’re driving into Austria from a neighboring country, don’t forget to purchase a vignette at/near the border.
