The National Diet Library (NDL) announces that the Kansai-kan will reopen to the public on Thursday, June 4, 2020, while the entire Tokyo Main Library (reservations are required) as well as the International Library of Children's Literature (Researchers' Reading Room only) will reopen on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
The NDL will continue to implement measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including restricting admission as necessary. Details are shown below.

Safety Measures
- Admission will be restricted as necessary when crowded.
- Seminar rooms will remain closed.
- Other measures to prevent spread COVID-19 will be implemented, including regular cleaning, ventilation, physical distancing, and prevention of droplet infection.
- Guided tours and short instruction sessions will remain unavailable for the time being.

Admission reservations at the Tokyo Main Library allocated by lottery:
Admission to the Tokyo Main Library will be limited to a maximum of 200 visitors per day. Visitors will be selected by lottery, so even if you apply earlier, the probability of being selected will not increase. Please visit the NDL website for updates.

- Only the Researchers' Reading Room will reopen. The Children's Library, Meet the World, the Gallery of Children's Literature, the Teens' Research Room, and the Museum will remain closed.
- Admission will be restricted as necessary when crowded.

- Guided tours and short instruction sessions will remain unavailable for the time being.
- Other events will remain postponed for the time being.

Notice to all visitors of the Tokyo Main Library, Kansai-kan, and International Library of Children's Literature
- Please refrain from visiting the NDL if you have a fever, cough, sore throat, or feel fatigued.
- As you enter the library, your body temperature will be checked with a thermographic sensor. Visitors with a fever will not be allowed to enter.
- Please refrain from visiting the NDL if in the past two weeks you have visited a country or region where measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are in place.
- Please limit your time at the library and stay only as long as necessary.
- Please wear a mask when you visit the NDL. Please be sure to wash your hands, gargle, and use alcohol sanitizers to prevent the spread of infection.
- Please be sure that your registered contact information (email address and phone number) is up to date. In the event that a visitor is confirmed to have COVID-19, the NDL may provide public health agencies with the contact information of other visitors who were in the same proximity.
